NOTES ABOUT THE OIL FIELDS
Items of Interest Gleaned From Southern California's Producing Fields and Progress Made.
Richfield oil district, which in 1920 had an average production of more than 30,395 barrels per day, is from all indications going to beat its own record. There hasn't been a dull week since the first of this year. Almost 12 producers have added to the producing number, more than half of which are gushers. Only last Tuesday the Harrington-Dumas well showed itself a gusher and reports from the field today say the well is continuing its steady production of around 1000 barrels a day.
Optimism runs high with Vern Dumas, who is spending most of his time in the field, in regard to the Ridge well which will be drilled thru the cement next Monday and from all reports it looks like Richfield is in for more things in the coming days.
The Richfield Eastern Oil Company under the active management of Vern Dumas is getting ready for operations here Practically surrounded by activities and but a couple of hundred feet from actual big production it now looks like it is going to cause some more excitement.
Report states that the Richfield United has struck a fine oil showing and indications hero are that it may and Fowler No. 1 is testing for a shut-off at 3100, which at this time looks very good.
The Bell of Montebello has contracted the rotary work on its well to the firm of Wigle & McBride. Drilling starts at once. One hundred feet of stovepipe has been put in.
Rigging up work on the Bolsa Chica Oil Company's No. 1 (Augur) is going rapidly, the intention being to apud in about 10 days or sooner.
Drilling on the Blue Shale Oil Company's No. 1 started last week and the log shows 1000 feet drilled.
The Hurts Syndicate is drilling out the cement at 2240 feet and will be testing water before the end of the week.
The Huntington Central at No. 1 set a string of 10-inch pipe at 2445 feet and at No. 2 drilling is going nicely at 3000 feet in the hard sand.
Drilling on the Petroleum Company's Moser No. 1 is now at 1200 feet in shale. The drilling is going rapidly.
Both wells of the Mille-Keck Company No. 1 and the State Consolidated are to be re-cemented and a special ordinance of the City heim fixing and prescribing limits of said City; providing kind of buildings to be erected and prescribing a penalty for lation thereof.
The Board of Trustees of Anaheim do ordain as follow:
SECTION 1. That there shall be hereby created two fires within the City of Anaheim same shall be and are here nated as "Fire District Number "Fire District Number 2" and "Fire District 2" be and are they are here and established as the fire the City of Anaheim.

The Richfield Eastern Oil Company under the active management of Vern Dumas is getting ready for operations here Practically surrounded by activities and but a couple of hundred feet from actual big production it now looks like it is going to cause some more excitement.
Report states that the Richfield United has struck a fine oil showing and indications hero are that it may soon be brought in a producer. The trend of new operations seems to be swinging eastward to that part of the field. Here the Amalgamated got a fine showing of oil. The Blxby looks like a good prospect, though it is presently in water sand around 3200 feet. The Shelby-Root-Hogue Oil Company's Dominguez No.1 is in brown shale at 2950 feet. Fifteen wells are reported on production in what might be termed the eastern part of the Richfield district.
It does not seem possible, perhaps, but the Richfield-Yorba made a flow early this week, and produced at the rate of 95 barrels a day. Experiments with air-compressor still continue with but little success as yet.
At 2925 feet the Placentia Pacific is still in hard conglomerate and sand. The hard stuff was struck at 2825 feet and has continued with the exception of a few feet the same hard formation.
The Fullerton Oil Company set pipe at the Anaheim well the first of the week at 4065 feet. The depth of the hole is 4206, and has been shooting up very nicely. The Fullerton Oil Company should get one of the big wells of the Richfield district on the Anaheim Union.
Rodrilling and cleaning out on the Clark Oil Company's Wetzell No.1 continues to go good. At 3350 feet the redrilling is getting by the pipe nicely and barring mishap, the demaining 800 feet of hole should be recovered quickly. Chances to duplicate a Standard Kraemer are good in the Clark.
The General Petroleum continues to be one of the heavy operators in the Richfield district, and at present time has 12 wells drilling. Group 2-1 at 4225 is in shale. Group 4-3 is a new well with 700 feet of hole.
Brown N.1 at 1550 feet is in the conglomerate. Marshburn No.1 at 3-403 feet set 10-inch pipe Osman No.1 at 1550 feet is drilling in shale and

Drilling on the Petroleum Company's Moser No.1 is now at 1200 feet in shale. The drilling is going rapidly.
Both wells of the Milley-Keck Company No.1 and the State Consolidated are to be re-cemented and a special effort made to fesset out the water and shut it off. These two wells are now at the mercy of the water. Just as soon as the water is shut off two good producers are assured.
Drilling on the Mid-Central is going with some difficulty on account of the caving formation struck at 4150 feet. Drilling is now at 4167 feet in sandy shale.
Spudding in a week ago, the National Exploration's Newlands-Porchard No.1 shows 1600 feet of hole.
Drilling on the Pantages-Huntington started early in the week and the log shows 600 feet of hole made.
The Petroleum Midway under T.J.Crumpton's direction is making a good showing at Huntington Beach. Columbia 1-1 is close to 2200 feet in shale; Columbia 3-1 shows 2900 feet of hole in the oil sand. At Ray Walker the cement will be drilled out in a few days and drilling resumed. Volmer-Myers shows 2735 feet in sandy shale.
The Standard's A-3 Huntington came in last Thursday at about 1000 barrels, but soon developed water and is now being tester out for the source. The A-5 Huntington stands cemented at 2990 feet. A-7 is drilling in oil sand at 2300 feet and looks good. A-8 is standing cemented at 1900 feet. A-9 is rigging up and A-10 is building rig.
Huntington B-2 is drilling at 1600 feet. B-3 just started shows 300 feet. C-1 is now drilling and shows 1800 feet.
Bolsa No.1 continues producing at 1500 barrels and is one of the greatest wells in Southern California. Bolsa No.2 is down around 2000 feet and Bolsa No.3 shows 2000 feet of hole.
Surf No.1 is standing cemented, Torrance No.1 is cleaning out on the bottom and the Johns Community is standing cemented to catch the surf.

Brown N. 1. at 1550 feet is in the conglomerate. Marshburn No. 1 at 3-403 feet set 10-inch pipe Osman No. 1 at 2900 feet is drilling in shale and boulders. Stern No. 5 is testing water at 3005 feet. Thompson No. 4 has settled down to a regular production of 600 barrels. Drilling at Davis No. 1 is at 3220 feet. Hugo No. 1 is rigging to deepen in the hope of making a better well.
The increasing development activities during the past week in Huntington Beach and the interesting stage which a number of operations have reached are fast building up a growing confidence in the apparent productivity of that field. A number of new derricks are being erected and quite a few new companies have entered and are preparing to enter the field.
The Peerless Petroleum Company, with holdings which they claim to be situated on the apex of the Huntington Beach anticline, have announced their intention of immediately starting a development campaign and carrying it through to completion with all possible haste. The Peerless Petroleum Company, officers are Los Angeles and Ontario business and professional men.
The Amalgamated Oil Company has completed the moving of the rise at Huntington No. 1 and is ready to start drilling. Huntington 2-A is bailing for a water test at 2000 feet.
Huntington B-2 is drilling at 1600 feet. B-3 just started shows 300 feet. C-1 is now drilling and shows 1800 feet.

Surf No. 1 is standing cemented, Torrance No. 1 is cleaning out on the bottom and the Johns Community is standing cemented to catch the surface waters.
Rigging up is being rushed by Edens & Wagner, who have taken the contract to drill the Sun Oil Company's No. 1. Drilling will commence as soon as the rigging up work is completed.
The Texcal is drilling steadily away. Preparations are being rushed to start drilling in Texcal's No. 2.
The Vista Del Mar sidetracked the lost bit, drilled to 2200 feet even, and set a string of 8-inch. The well has been looking rather good.
The Argonaut Oil Company set its water string at 2000 feet.
Drilling on the Union Oil Company's Newland No. 1 is now at 4975 feet. The formation is sticky brown shale with little or no indications of oil. At Copeland No. 1 a string of 10-inch pipe was set at 2900 feet.
