O. Henderson and Fred Koesel, of the Anaheim Realty company, now have their office fitted up and are occupying it. Mr. Henderson purchased the East Center street building, just east of the city hall, of J. C. Cordes. He ran a partition through it, renting half of it to the ladies' art store, while the real estate firm occupies the other room. Mr. and Mrs. Al Nowotny gave a party Thursday in celebration of the second birthday of their son, Raymond, at which a dozen or more small people were present. After playing for an hour on the lawn the guests were ushered to the dining room and regaled on ice cream and cake. A birthday cake on which burned two candles, formed the centerpiece. When Luis Gonzales and Joe Roscoe, of this city, witnesses in the Saragossa case, landed from a jitney at the door of the court house Monday morning they were met by Sheriff Jackson, who pronounced them intoxicated and proceeded to lock them up in the jail. The sheriff found four bottles of beer concealed about their persons, which he confiscated. B. Fisher and daughter, Miss Maria, who have been spending the winter in Arizona, returned to Anaheim last week and will again reside here. Miss Maria attended school at Tucson during their residence there, but will take the balance of the term in the Anaheim high school. While at Tucson Mr. Fisher had the pleasure of meeting with Prof. Walker, formerly principal of the high school here but now resident of that city. The afternoon was spent in playing games, and at 4 o'clock the luncheon of ice cream, cake and candies was served. The birthday cake was decorated with eight small candles gracing the center of the table. Saturday was orange day throughout the United States, also in Anaheim. It is seldom we have an opportunity of getting good oranges here, where the best in the world are grown. The choice fruit is shipped into the eastern market and we must be content with the culls. The grocery stores were supplied with good fruit Saturday, and for one day Anaheimers could buy the best on the market. The hearing instituted to place Paul des Granges under a peace bond has been continued to April 25, according to Mr. Des Granges' attorney, E. J. Marks. Superior Judge West, who was to have presided at the hearing Wednesday, accompanied Mrs. West to Baltimore, where she has been placed under the care of a specialist, and Attorney Marks does not believe he will return in time to hear proceedings in the case April 25. Neill Bailey writes from Jerome that he has been foasting on Anaheim Sunkist oranges, which he pronounces the finest fruit he ever tasted. A box of this superb fruit forwarded him from the local packing house, reached him just after his wife and little girl had left for a visit with relatives in North Carolina, and Neill has been having a picnic all by himself. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Heying entertained the Evening Club at their new home on North Clementine street on Thursday evening. The rooms were decorated with green and white, the daintily appointed luncheon table also carried out the St. Patrick's day scheme. Five Hundred was played, Mrs. D. L. Parker winning the prize, a pretty gilt basket. After the games a three-course luncheon was served. There are only a handful of Irishmen in Anaheim, but when St. Patrick's day comes around the orange gives way to the green and retires into the back ground. Everybody was wearing the colors of the patron saint of the Emerald Isle Friday and in the evening a St. Patrick's ball was given at the opera house. At all the social functions of the week St. Patrick was remembered in the house decorations. The police of Santa Ana broke up a religious meeting last Wednesday night and arrested seven of the chief worshippers. The Holy Rollers have been holding a meeting, and people living in the neighborhood complained repeatedly of the noise they were making. The police were finally ordered by the trustees to "abate the nuisance," in consequence whereof they arrested seven men. They were placed under $25 bond each. McCain of Santa Ana, has brought suit against I. N. Camp, of the Anaheim dairy for $500 damages alleged to have been sustained by him in a collision with Camp's delivery wagon at the corner of Cypress and Los Angeles streets last Saturday. A novel suit, involving two inches of business property on North Spadra avenue, Fullerton, was filed in the Superior Court at Santa Ana, Tuesday by Mrs. Amanda Rothaermal, through her attorney, E. J. Marks, against George H. Amerige. The complaint sets forth that Mr. Amerige entered into possession of the south two inches of Mrs. Rothaermal's property, a two-story building located in the center of the business section. Besides asking for the possession of the dispute two inches, Mrs. Rothaermal asks $1500 damages. The Amerige property is a one-story building of brick, and it is estimated that it will cost at least $1500 if the suit is won to remove that portion alleged to encroach on the adjoining property. But there is another chapter to the story. Amerige employed H. Clay Kellogg to overhaul old records and make a survey, and he reports that one inch of the Rothaermal building is on the Amerige lot, consequently the latter threatens to sue for $10,000 damages unless the former suit is dropped.
