Williams, Thos. B. Talbert and N. T. Edwards passed through the city yesterday afternoon on their way to Riverside to represent this county at a conference upon the congressional situation held in that city last evening. They were joined in this city by J. W. Duckworth, chairman of the Orange county republican central committee. They will return from Riverside today and will report to the county central committee on Saturday. John Ziegler informs us that while work is being rushed on his magnificent Valencia hotel, it will not be finished in time for a grand New Year's opening, as was originally wished. The building will be opened to the public about March 1st. A marquet is being erected at the main entrance on Center street that will be a thing of beauty when completed. It will be 30 feet in length and will extend from the building frontage to the edge of the sidewalk. It is to be of artistic inlaid work and numerous varied colored lights are to be installed. The building altogether will be one of the finest in Southern California. The St. Michael's Helpers Guild will hold a bazaar and food sale at Martins' store all day Saturday, December 11. The ladies will be in charge of the spread and will offer all kinds of delicacies, including meat loaves, pies, cake, fruits, etc., for sale at extremely reasonable prices. They promise each customer his money's worth. NANCY OF THE SEA The choir of St. Michael's Episcopal church will present one of the largest and best opera productions ever brought to Anaheim when, on Monday, December 13th, at the high school auditorium they submit to the public the beautiful opera, "Nancy of the Sea." The cast of 50 people, with a load of their own scenery, bespeaks an entertainment worth going miles to see and hear. The play will be given by Orange talent, as it was given two night in that city. F. A. Blake will enact the role of King Alfonso, and Mrs. Walter Kogler will appear as Nancy. The proceeds will be used in purchasing an organ. BOYS—We sell the American model building. Dr. Houck is a member of the state board of dental examiners, which convenes in San Francisco this week. Bob Mills, the oyster magnate of Seal Beach, was visiting old friends in Anaheim last Wednesday. Mrs. Theodore Roberts and Miss Mary Strohka were visiting in Los Angeles Thursday. J. H. Cook and wife and W. H. Houts and wife drove down to Newport Sunday and spent the day. The Manufacturers' Outlet Company has opened a branch store in the Metropolitan building, Center and Lemon streets. Meacham and wife went up to Camp Baldy Saturday returning Sunday. William Walker who left here some time ago for a tour of the northern part of the state returned Saturday. He says that Anaheim beats them all. J. C. Bourne, one of the sugar factory employees, has gone to Mexico and will engage in the manufacture of cane sugar. J. M. Jackson, father of the popular Dee, arrived Sunday and will spend the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. A. L. Bennett, pioneer resident of Buena Park, was a business visitor in town on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Erma Berkey, Mrs. Geo. Haltz and daughter Marlita of Sioux City, Iowa, spent last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. E. Nevins of 706 S. Los Angeles St. Mrs. Berkey and Mrs. Haltz left for San Diego the first of the week and will complete their visit in Anaheim on their return from the exposition. Ben Wendring has returned to this city from San Pedro where he has been living for several months. He purchased a city lot at San Pedro and has erected a neat dwelling thereon, which he has rented. Miss Hazel Kenney one of the popular young ladies of this region was married at the Christian parsonage at Santa Ana Monday to Jack Edwardson. The young couple spent a few days at the beaches, but are now at home in a cottage prepared by the groom on Placentia avenue. On their return they found that their friends had been before them and decorated the house in an artistic style, old shoes, dead cats, and placards bearing appropriate mottoes being used in the decorations. Mrs. I. Jerzy gave a house warming last Saturday night.
