Q. R. store. William Falkenstein leaves for San Francisco on Sunday as a delegate from the local Masonic lodge to the grand lodge which meets in that city. He will be absent about 10 days. Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Duckworth and two children departed on Saturday for their home in Honolulu. They drove by automobile to San Pedro and sailed for San Francisco on the steamer Harvard. They were accompanied to the port by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Duckworth. On Tuesday they sailed from San Francisco on the steamer Sierra, for the islands. A hill of corn, each of the three stalks of which measures 12 feet in height, is on exhibition at the Elliott-Bushard office. Four splendid and completely developed ears of corn are growing on the stalks which proves that corn will grow to perfection in this region if given proper care. Howard Gates was in Santa Ana Tuesday night attending a banquet of the Christian Endeavor. Mr. and Mrs. Sabin, of Tia Juana, are in the city visiting relatives. They came up to attend the funeral of Theodore Rimpau. Deputy County Clerk Joseph Backs was in town on Tuesday afternoon gathering up the registration books for the wet and dry election. The registration closed on Monday and the total aggregated near 1,700. Walter Johnson, who received his first training in baseball on the sands of Anaheim, has been voted the most valuable man in the American League and was awarded the automobile offered by the league players at the beginning of the season to the man whom the newspaper men would select. In the selection of an all-star team taken from the two big leagues, Johnson was unanimously chosen the pitcher. Articles of incorporation were filed by the Deposit Land Company, capitalized for $50,000, with Santa Ana named as the principal place of business. The directors are R. J. Thompson, C. R. Davis, F. D. Drake, S. M. Davis and E. G. Hoff. The Anaheim Retail Merchants' Protective Association met Tuesday night in annual session and elected the following officers for the coming year: President, R. C. Petermann; vice-president, W. H. Houts; secretary and attorney, Roger Dutton; treasurer, H. E. W. Barnes. Articles were filed Wednesday by El Camino Water Company, with Fullerton as the principal place of business. The company is a pumping plant proposition. Of the $10,000 capital stock $6,000 is subscribed as follows: W. A. Goodwin, $1,600; A. V. Vail, $1,200; G. A. Gray, $1,100; A. L. Porter, $1,000; H. G. Meiser, $1,100.
