Congressman Kettner has our thanks for public documents from Washington. The school trustees have placed a number of additional shade trees about the grounds at the primary school. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Donahoe were in San Gabriel on Sunday attending the Mission Play. Mrs. Louis Feid went up to the city last Monday to spend the day, visiting with her brother, and incidentally taking in the Orpheum theater. Secretary of State Jordan has forwarded this office a copy of the California Blue Book, for which he has our thanks. George H. Warren, leading merchant of Buena Park, piloted a party of motorists to this city the latter part of the week. Mrs. Margaret J. Bailey and daughter, Miss Miriam, were here from Los Angeles on Sunday, spending the day with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Melrose spent Sunday with the old folks at home, driving down from Los Angeles on a motoring trip. Miss Rayburn and Miss Nellie Sparks were visitors in Los Angeles Friday, going up in the interests of Miss Rayburn's millinery store. Albert Brunworth returned Monday afternoon from a three-days' delightful trip to San Diego and other near-by coast points. U. S. Amack has been awarded contract by Dr. Harvey for erection of a $3,000 residence on North Los Angeles street. John Hartung contemplates erection in the near future of a fine two-story mansion on his lot at the corner of Los Angeles and Alberta streets. Mrs. Caroline Rickenberg and two children, Elmer and Margaret, left Tuesday morning for their old home in Stillville, Ill., where they will join Mr. Rickenberg and remain. L. B. Weber this week surprised his many friends be remaining in town over Sunday. This is explained by the Attorney Ames was a visitor in Santa Ana the latter part of the week. Morrow, of the Pacific Telephone Company, was in town the latter part of the week from Santa Ana in the interests of his company. George Namnam, of Bakersfield, a brother of A. Namnam of this city, was a visitor of that gentleman on Thursday. Jake Schumacher was in town the latter part of the week from Los Angeles, visiting friends and relatives. Harry Everson of Anaheim was committed to the asylum at Patton for two years because he has lost control of his appetitie for drink. Frank Church has purchased a five-acre ranch of the F. B. Kealher property in the Royer tract and will shortly erect a commodious residence thereon for himself and family. Mrs. Maria Strehle has applied for letters of administration on the estate of her husband, A. E. Strehle, an Anaheim contractor who died on April 1. The estate is valued at $5,000. Depository for Postal Savings System ANAHEIM GAZETTE Chas. H. Rockwell has purchased the interest of H. P. Tobin in the Anaheim Motorcycle Company on South Los Angeles street, and will in future conduct the business. Mr. Rockwell has been a resident of this section for some time, and has many friends here who wish him success in his new undertaking. He will devote his attention largely to gas engines and pumps, and will leave the motorcycle end of the business in charge of Curley, who is in the market for all kinds of repairing, and is also agent for several good makes of motors. F C. Krause, Claude Sidman, Harry Sidman and F E. Flory spent several days the past week on a fishing and hunting trip to Big Bear Valley, making the trip in Mr. Krause's automobile. They report such good luck that if the fish stories they tell are true, there will not be any use for others to go fishing this year, for all the fish will be either caught or else so badly scared that they will starve to death before they will take the bait. The Parent Teachers' Association of the Loara school will hold its regular meeting tomorrow (Friday) evening at 7:30 in the school house. Owing to the inability of the speaker of the evening to be present, a varied program will be given, consisting of music and readings, followed by a social half hour. Everyone is invited to be present. R C. Petermann, the East Center street groceryman, this week installed a Royal electric coffee mill, equipped with steel knives, which cuts the coffee and does not mash it as old style mills do. The mill is described as the best on the market, and Mr. Petermann is to be congratulated upon securing such an addition to the equipment of his store. We make a specialty of repairs and extras. We will forfeit $1 for every McCormick mower or rake extra asked for that we do not have on hand. Wickersheim Implement Co., Fullerton. Contractors Bender & Silbernagle on Monday began construction of the vault to be used by the Southern County Bank. The foundation of the vault is two feet deep and two tons of iron were used as reinforcement for the concrete used in its construction. The walls of the vault will be 14 inches thick, and the entire structure will be electrically protected throughout, making it strictly burglar proof. The protection of the vault is in charge of H D. PRESBYTERIAN'S HOLD ANNUAL MEETING Reports Received For Year's Work—Officers Elected For Next Year The annual meeting of members of the Presbyterian church was held one evening last week with a large attendance present. Rev. F. W. Mitchell presided and W. A. Ross acted at clerk. The old board of trustees was re-elected, and Messrs. Comstock and Gibbs were elected elders. The salary of the pastor was raised from $1,300 to $1,500 a year, as a reward for faithful service and untiring work in the service of the church. Reports were received from all branches of the work and the treasurer's report showed the church clear of indebtedness for the first time in several years, additions having been made to the building two times in the past four years. After the business session a musical program was given consisting of solos by Mrs. McLauchlin, Mrs. Dr. Parker and Miss Juanita Powers, and a poem by Rev Mitchell. The evening closed with delicious refreshments prepared and served by the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. ANNUAL REPORT OF CHRISTIAN CHURCH The hand of the Lord of all blessing, comfort, wisdom, love and peace has directed us and abundantly favored us during the year that has passed into history as one of the most prosperous during the congregation's existence, considering the conditions under which we were compelled to labor. The strenuous work of the pastor has been made pleasant by the encouragements, prayers and most zealous assistance from the spiritually minded. Every member of the congregation, led by the spirit of Christ, is thanking and praising God for the many rich blessings and accomplishments of the year's work. The church enrollment has increased over 100 per cent. Number of sermons preached in Anaheim during the year, 108; other addresses, 2; number of calls made, 780; weddings, 2; conducted and assisted at funerals, 4; number of baptisms during the year, 16; number otherwise, 26; letters granted, 1; number of deaths, 2; total net gain for the year, 39; present resident membership, 72; number of sermons and addresses delivered outside of Anaheim, 35; number of accessions from these sermons, 20; amount of all money raised for the year, over $17.40 per capita for every man, woman and child of the congregation, both resident and non-resident; over $2.65 per capita, as stated above, raised for missions and benevolence; the average attendance at the prayer meeting during the past year has been 23. The Bible school attendance is the largest it has been in 12 years. Enrollment the largest the past quarter it has ever been. Every department of the church is growing in numbers and spiritual strength. And last but not least, the spiritual difficulties of the past are admitted, by the most critical, to be buried. C. R.
