PERSONAL MENTION
This Lady Had a Stew
Mrs. Elvina Morales was in Recorder Howard’s court Friday morning charged with having a case of Thanksgiving stew, bordering upon souse. She was run into the city bastile on Thursday when her condition of inebriety was such that it was impossible for her to navigate. She was given a sentence of 30 days in the county Jail.
Cut Out High Living
Bob McKee was in town the day after Thanksgiving from his fine ranch southeast of this city. Bob did nothing on Thanksgiving day except to get in line with the procession of high livers, and it is said the spread which Mrs. McKee prepared for him was interior to none in the county. Bob says the distress which follows this sort of high living is awful to contemplate, and the simple life for him after this.
Holder of World's Record
George C. Buehn holds the world's record for raising sugar beets on his ranch at Artesla. A measured piece of ground containing one and one-quarter acres yielded 83,330 pounds of beets, or an average of 33 acres yielded average of 21.15 tons acres yielded 312 to acre, and the average was 20.3 per cent, which would equal Auto Every 38 Minutes.

those two days. The big rush of business was incidental upon the arrival of new "25" and "35" models which were put on sale last week. P. J. Weisel, local agent of the Studebaker cars, expects to receive a consignment of the new 1913 models in the next few days and declares they will be the sensation of the year.
Brunworth Files Contest
John Brunworth on Saturday brought a contest in the superior court against William Schumacher, contesting the latter's election to supervisor in the third district. Brunworth has engaged H. C. Head, of Santa Ana, as his council and Schumacher will be represented by Roger Williams. The case will be heard in court December 16. The complaint alleges errors and miscounts and misconducts, covering various possibilities under the election law, and asks that the ballots cast on supervisor be re-counted. The precincts involved are four in Anaheim, three in Fullerton, Brea, Buena Park, East Anaheim, La Habra, Orangethorpe, Placentia and West Anaheim.
Suit in Partition
Stafor for the partition of the estate of John R. Fletcher, a pioneer of Olive, has been brought by part of the heir against others. Catherine Fletcher, entitled to one-half of the estate, consisting of 56 acres of land at Olive, John R., Alex C., and Robert W. Fletcher and Jeanette L. Flippen, entitled to one-twelfth each, are the plaintiffs, and Elizabeth J. Harris, entitled to one-twelfth, George Warren and Marguerite Cruickshank, together entitled to one-twelfth, are the defendants. J. K. Barnett of San Luis Obispo is attorney for the plaintiffs. The court is asked to make a division of the property according to the interests alleged.

Turkeys May Die of Old Age
F. A. Blake, of the Olive Milling Company, was in town the first of the week and reported business at the mill greater than at any former period in its history. However, he was downcast and sad, for he had no turkey on Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Blake has the finest stock of turkeys on the east side and Mr. Blake looked forward confidently to having the largest gobbler in the flock grace his Thanksgiving day table. Mrs. Blake demurred, all the birds being pets and altogether too highly prized to admit of a thought of slaughtering one of them. Mr. Blake does not know how he will ever have turkey for dinner unless the neighbors will bring one in or he be able to get one when Mrs. Blake isn't looking.
$125,000 Estate Left
The will of Will C. Crawford, the Tustin capitalist and orange grower, filed this week, leaves one-third of his estate to be used in the chapel car work of the American Baptist Publication Society. All but $25,000 of the remainder is left to the widow, who lives at Tustin. The estate is valued at about $125,000, of which most is in real estate, including a 40-acre ranch at Olive worth $70,000, another ranch at Olive worth $15,000, and two ranches at Tustin worth $15,000 and $9,000. Mrs. Crawford is to receive the home place at Tustin. The sum of $25,000 is to be divided equally among Crawford's father, mother, brothers and sister. Crawford died at Hemet on Nov. 18. The will, written on May 27, 1904, directed that an old friend, Mattison Jones, of Los Angeles, be attorney for the estate.
Seeks to Correct Returns
An action was brought in the superior court this week asking a recount of votes for presidential electors in two Santa Ana precincts. The complaint was filed by Attorneys W. H. Thomas and Keeck & Davis. Plaintiffs are Florence Collins Porter and Marshall Stimson of Los Angeles and S. J. Jackman of Santa Ana, chairman of the Republican county central committee, favoring Roosevelt. The defendants are the members of the Board of Supervisors, County Clerk Williams, Secretary of State Jordan, and the members of the election boards of precincts 5 and 7. The election board of No. 5 was J. O. Baker, W. B. Winans, William McFadden's Big Realty Deal

was filed by Attorneys W. H. Thomas and Keech & Davis. 5 was J. O. Baker, W. B. Winans, William McGreavey, George R. Smith, Arthur Collins and Robert Smith. No. 7's board was G. E. Robinson, J. E. Arnastrong, C. H. Harlin, M. B. Lacy and R. L. Obari. The complaint alleges that the election boards made mistakes, and that those errors were carried out in the canvass and the report of the county clerk to the secretary of state. In the fifth precinct it is alleged that the board failed to tally 27 votes cast for the Republican-Progressive electors, Wallace excepted. No allegation appears to show that $4 votes counted for Griffin were not counted for the other electors. In the seventh it is alleged that the board failed to tally 27 votes cast for R. W. Bull, a Republican-Progressive elector, though the votes were counted for all other electors. The court is asked to open the ballots, and have a re-count in court that the corrections made be determined, and carried through the county clerk to the secretary of state. The complaint alleges that the vote in the state is very close, and the result in these two precincts may be "controlling and decisive of the results in the state." With the summons is attached a statement from the attorneys stating that the action is a friendly suit, and asking for co-operation.
McFadden's Big Realty Deal
One thousand and seventy acres of land on South Main street, Santa Ana, known for many years past as "McFadden's pasture," this week passed to the possession of the Santa Ana Co-operative Sugar Company. The transfer was made by Jas. McFadden for a consideration of $275 an acre, or a total of $294,250. The deal has been pending for some time. The tract originally contained 1100, 30 acres having been donated to the Southern California Sugar Company for the site which its factory now occupies. The Santa Ana Co-operative Sugar Company will lease the ground to beet growers, and expect to have the entire tract under cultivation for next season's run. The major portion of the tract has never been plowed, having been used entirely as a pasture. Some three or four hundred acres were planted to beets two years ago. All of the land, with the exception of about fifty acres is considered good beet land, and in time the fifty or more acres will be reclaimed and will probably be as good land as the remainder of the tract. The acreage lies south of Delhi road and west of Main street.
