HIGH SCHOOL NOTES
Boys Win Basketball Game—Debate Tomorrow Night at Hollywood
The boys' basketball team of the Anaheim High School defeated the Santa Ana High School aggregation on the local court Monday to the tune of 28 to 6. Soon after the opening whistle blew the Anaheim boys got on a high pressure of steam and waltzed away from their opponents in grand style. Team work was excellent and individual play was good, every man playing the game for all he was worth. This was only a practice game and the score does not amount to much except to show that the Anaheim team is in the running for the championship. This was the fifth game played by the local team and the fourth won, the other being tied. Darkness came on before the game was finished and it lasted only 15 minutes. Query: What would the score have been if the Anaheim team had really gotten worked up to a fighting spirit and the game had lasted the full half hour? Who knows?
The same evening the girls' team of the local school played the Santa Ana team in the first league game of the season. Although the Anaheim girls played well considering the practice they have had, the Santa Ana team got the long end of the score. 13-3. The same evening the girls' team of the local school played the Santa Ana team in the first league game of the season. Although the Anaheim girls played well considering the practice they have had, the Santa Ana team got the long end of the score. The local girls are now out for blood and have vowed to beat the next team that dares meet them in open combat on a basketball court. Here's hoping you do, girls!
The first debate of the season for the local school in the Southern California League series will be held with Hollywood at that place tomorrow night, November 22. The team from Anaheim is composed of Messrs. Hans Storm and Walter Spaeth, both young men of debating experience and reputation, and local people confidently look for their return from Hollywood with that school's scalp dangling at their belts. Anaheim will uphold the affirmative of the question, "Resolved, That American shipping passing through the Panama Canal should be exempt from tolls." Miss Veda Walker has been coaching Messrs. Storm and Spaeth and as she has the reputation of invariably turning out winning debating teams, no fear need be felt but that Anaheim will win this contest. The judges are to be Prof. Langworthy of Redondo, Judge Fred. H. Taft and Judge J. N. McCormick, of Los Angeles. A large crowd of local rooters will probably attend Hollywood's funeral, going up on the evening Santa Fe train and returning on the "Owl."
The next number on the high school entertainment course will be given December 5 in the High School auditorium. Our readers will remember that Ross Crane, the cartoonist, was to have filled his appointment here on October 28 but was unavoidably detained in Texas and has been and will be unable to appear here and as the local management declined to take on a cheaper man, Mr. Crane's engagement has been canceled and a local talent entertainment will be put on instead. Reserved seat tickets for the regular course of entertainments will be good for this number. The nature of the entertainment is an operetta, "In the Land of Flowers," and other features. The music and literary departments of the High School are busy rehearsing for this production and scenery for the stage is being painted by students in the art department, thus making it purely a local affair. Complete announcements will be out later but meanwhile remember the date, the

Following the custom pursued by us for many years we wish our old customers, as well as our new, to return any coats made by us during the past season in which the fronts have not held their shape or the linings given satisfactory wear.
