Among the loot found in the man's possession were three dark lanterns, or flashlights such as are used by policemen, a number of battery testers, wrenches, nuts and files and spark plugs, but with the aid of all of these the thief had evidently been unable to get the machine to run under its own power and had pushed it from where it was stolen to where it was found. The prisoner gives his name Leroy Ernest Russell, and says he comes from San Francisco. He is a giant in stature, being over six feet two inches in height, light complexion and smoothly shaven. MAS DINING TABLE Many housekeepers, while they aim to have a deinty and appetizing bill of fare for the Christmas dinner, fail to arrange their table with taste and elegance, and regard decorations as mere things entirely beyond their means. Such is an error, for a table may be made lovely without expensive flowers or novelties. Pressed autumn leaves, dried ferns, mingled with the scarlet hues of the bitter-sweet, or Indian turnip berries, make very effective floral designs for the Christmas table. Little moss-covered trays filled with dried grass and straw and then piled with chocolates are very pretty. Tiny rustic baskets, filled with pressed leaves and hung between slender bark poles, are receptacles for candies and sugar plums. A Christmas bell cut out of pasteboard or light wood, covered with evergreens and then decorated with ivy may be hung high over the Wou Like to know of th in th Or We For any reason lik We Like to demonstrate superior service a buying or s We Well equipped office aheim and keep in to ers and property fo Three Men on t We do a general rea sell on commission fidelity contra BEETS, ANAHEIM to Grove The road. Henry Seidel, of Santa Ana awoke other morning to find that his age had been forcibly entered durthe night and his motorcycle stolthe thief having broken the lock the door. Mr. Seidel immediately fried Constable C. E. Jackson, and that officer took up the trail which led to West Orange, where keep under a tree they found a man was arrested and placed in jail suspicion of being connected with the theft. Among the articles found the man's possession was a bundle machinists' tools which the man were his property, but he ded all knowledge of the theft of motorcycle. After the man arrested had been gled in jail, Constable Jackson and Seidel took the latter's automone and continued the search for the len motorcycle, having previously fired the officers in all the neighning towns to be on the lookout for man with the stolen property. Constable Jackson was not satisfied at the search at West Orange had been complete; and he and Seidel went back there, and halting at the old pool house they examined the premsions and found under the steps of the building a keyhole saw, a dark lantern several battery testers securely den and then discovered that the with the scarlet nues of the silver sweet, or Indian turnip berries, make very effective floral designs for the Christmas table. Little moss-covered trays filled with dried grass and straw and then piled with chocolates are very pretty. Tiny rustic baskets, filled with pressed leaves and hung between slender bark poles, are receptacles for candies and sugar plums. A Christmas be'll cut out of pasteboard or light wood, covered with evergreens and then decorated with mistletoe, may be hung high over the table. Beautiful wreaths and centerpieces are formed entirely of mist'e-toe, which can be gathered in all of our forests and preserved until Christmas. Holly wreaths are also beautiful and suggestive of the season. In a recent current publication a pretty design is given for the Christmas table: "Make a cone of cardboard, and arrange holly berries and leaves over it, so they will appear to be growing. Set it on a round dish or in a flat basket, which is filled with bon-bons, flowers and pretty little trifles. This charming centerpiece may ornament the table during dinner, and when the dessert come on, the cone may be raised by means of a wire attached and pulled from one side and disclose the fruit to the astonished children." Fruits and nuts tastily arranged make very handsome ornaments for the Christmas dinner table. To have everything on the table presents an attractive appearance, and will give as much pleasure to the family as the daintiness of the many Christmas dishes, and no mother of a home and family should fail to give as much attention to one as the other, thus making Christmas not only a feast for the palate, but as well for the mind and heart. The phenomenal progress of this popular institution is an indication of the financial growth of the community, with which its affairs are so closely intermingled. From its beginning its growth has been continuous and rapid, until today it is one of the sound financial houses of the Southland. The semi-annual dividend comes as an acceptable Christmas gift to its many stockholders. GEO. C.
