Earl Simpson has arrived from Billings, Mont., and will remain to grow up with the country. He is a guest of his Uncle, Bert Simpson.

Frank Rimpau was in town from Los Angeles on Sunday visiting relatives. Frank is a leading druggist of the metropolis, and is rolling up a wad the likes of which turn John D's eyes green with envy.
U. S. Amack has sold his residence property on Vine street, and on Monday moved into the Stock residence on South Claudina street, recently vacated by W. E. Duckworth. Mr. Stock will next spring move the building from this site and erect a modern dwelling, which he will occupy.
Judge Howard had four inebriates in court Monday morning. One was fined $10, which he paid, another went to jail for ten days, and two others were fined $5 each. Failing to produce the dinero, they were remanded to jail. A hobo who disturbed the peace at Martenet's store was sent to the county jail for 30 days. Another charged with similar conduct at Federman's was assessed $10, which he paid.
W. E. Hineman, manager of the Anaheim Steam Laundry, attended the annual convention of the Southern California Laundrymen's association at San Diego last Saturday, returning home Sunday, Mr. Hineman reports a pleasant and profitable meeting. Between fifty and sixty members of the association were present, and at the close of the business session a banquet was given to the visitors by the San Diegans.
C. E. Jones left yesterday for Kelso, where he has a force of men at work upon the Kelso mine. Mr. Jones is confident he will develop a Mrs. Doctor Menges Boyd visited with friends here on Monday and attended the meeting of Chispa Chapter, O.E.S., Monday evening.

The pupils of Mrs. Abbott in elocation and dancing entertained their friends at the Opera House last Saturday afternoon. The elocation pupils entertained with readings and tableaux followed by dancinging. A most enjoyable time was had.
Wm. Schumacher has added to the equipment of the Palace market a Maxwell delivery auto, with which meats are delivered to all parts of the city. Bob McAnuley is in charge of the machine, and deliveries are made promptly to customers every day.
Earl Steadman returned Sunday from Yuma, Arizona, where he has been the past month under the employ of N.B.Tedford, who has the contract for the erection of a large theater building at that place. Earl expects to return to Yuma within the next few days.
A fire in a barn in rear of the residence of Jacob Noiret, 310 Emily street, called out the department on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock.A wind was blowing at the time and adjoining property was in danger.The fire department promptly extinguished the flames.
The American Savings bank will move today into its handsome new quarters in the First National bank, where a force of mechanics has been engaged for two weeks past in fitting up offices for it.The counter, desks and other fixtures are like those in use at the First National, which is one of the handsomest banking houses in Southern California.

California Laundrymen's association at San Diego last Saturday, returning home Sunday, Mr. Hineman reports a pleasant and profitable meeting. Between fifty and sixty members of the association were present, and at the close of the business session a banquet was given to the visitors by the San Diegans.
C. E. Jones left yesterday for Kelso, where he has a force of men at work upon the Kelso mine. Mr. Jones is confident he will develop a paying proposition at that point. He is undecided whether he will be able to return by Christmas. For two years past he has been absent from home at Christmas, having been engaged in mining work on the desert, and thinks this year he has a Christmas at home coming to him.
Major L. L. Vestal of Santa Ana has been placed on the retired list of the National Guard at his own request after 17 years of continuous service. Major Vestal entered as private in Santa Ana. He occupied all the various offices up to that of Major, by which office he was in command as major, of Companies L of Santa Ana, and H of Long Beach, and I of Pasadena. As soon as orders are out an election will be held for a major to succeed Vestal.
G. L. Ingraham has opened his new Ford Garage on North Los Angeles street and last week received a full carload of these popular machines. They are selling rapidly and Mr. Ingraham is doubtful if he can supply the demand. Besides this shipment another carload of roadster and touring Fords are now on the way from the factory to be followed shortly by a third car which will arrive here about the 20th of this month. Mr. Ingraham is experienced in this particular field and anyone wishing a good car at a particularly moderate price will do well to see him.

Postmaster Duckworth has been granted two additional assistants in the postoffice by the department at Washington for the holiday season. He has appointed A. Huelster as extra man in the office, and Ben Bierbaum as carrier. Mr. Duckworth advises patrons of the office to mail Christmas gifts early in order to avoid the conjected condition of affairs certain to ensue later on.
Secretary Helmsen of the Masonic lodge this week received news of the death, at Oskaloosa, Kansas, November 25, of A. B. Cowan, a former resident of this city, but who for a year past had resided in Kansas. Mr. Cowan was a member of Anaheim Maonic lodge. He died at the home of his brother, Joel Cowan. The remains were interred in Oskaloosa, November 27, by the Masonic lodge of that city.
Officer Germann reports 35 hoboes encamped the first of the week near the sugar factory north of town. Two were arrested in town some evenings ago, and five others were run out of town. Germann impresses the hoboes with the fact that a rockpile will soon be established to engage their attention. This information is spread broadcast by the fraternity. He thinks that with the introduction of the rock pile tramps will give the city a wide berth.
