W. H. Billings recently from Atlantic City, a first-class hotel man, and who went in partners with W. H. Shuman at the Adelheid steam and vapor bath parlors on Los Angeles street in this city, only a few weeks ago., has now bought out the full interest of W. H. Shuman, which includes also the real estate business at the same address. Mr. Billings has had a good deal of experience in the business, and with the valuable assistance of his wife, should be able to make things hum quite a bit in this city. Let us all unite in helping him to make a success of his undertaking.

H. P. Smith and family attended the Iowa picnic at Los Angeles Feb. 22d. They met many friends from the Hawkeye state and renewed all acquaintances.
The next regular meeting of the parent-teacher's association will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at the primary school building immediately after the Arbor day exercises.
Arbor Day will be celebrated by the public schools at the primary building next Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The parent-teacher's association are especially invited to be present.
J. B. Neff went to Los Angeles on Sunday evening to join the Demonstration train on its trip through the Pomona valley. Yesterday he addressed a meeting of bee-keepers in Los Angeles. He will be absent until the latter part of the week.
W. H. Shuman has relinquished control of Mrs. Konig's elegantly appointed bath-house, and is in San Francisco on a business trip. He will return shortly and after settling up his business affairs will go to San Pedro, where he will establish himself in the real estate business.
Ben Kraemer was in town from his Placentia ranch on Saturday.Ben keeps his brother Jonathan, who owns a large ranch in Durango, posted on this city and vicinity by mailing him literature at stated intervals.Jonathan writes that there is little or nothing doing in the insurrection line down his way.

Elton Goble came down from San Bernardino on Saturday morning on a visit to relatives.Arriving at Fullerton he found a long wait in prospect between trains and started to walk to this city.At Orangethorpe avenue he was picked up by an auto and made the journey home with flying colors。他 returned to San Bernardino on Sunday evening.
Miss Myrtle Taylor,daughter of Mr. and Mrs.S.L.Taylor,gave a birthday party Saturday evening to a number of her young friends,the occasion being the twelfth anniversary of her birthday.Miss Stephens of Los Angeles rendered piano music during the evening,she having a class in music here,the young hostess being one of her pupils.A delightful evening was spent in games and bright conversation and Miss Myrtle was wished many happy returns of the day.
J.W.Sackett is in receipt of a letter from Montana from which he learns that three inches of snow are on the ground and an old-fashioned blizzard raging。While reading the letter he was in his shirt sleeves at

F. D. Hall, cashier of the bank of Escouido, testified that Holbrook never had an account with his bank upon which the $15 check accepted by R. C. Mann of this city was drawn.

L. E. Miller announces a sale of a controlling interest in the Orange gas plant to a syndicate of Los Angeles capitalists. Latterly service has been poor, and steps were taken for the formation of a new company. The new men will, it is said, improve the system and repipe the town.
Mr. and Mrs. Welborn Wallop were host and hostess at a whist party to a number of their friends last Tuesday evening. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Arthur Lewis and Bird Beebe. After the games refreshments were served. Joseph Helmsen had as guests Mr. and Mrs. N. Hart for an auto trip to Puente on Sunday, when the day was enjoyable spent visiting friends.
W. J. Byers, the man from Alaska, will appear at Fairyland on Thursday and Friday evenings of this week. Mr. Byers was 17 years in Alaska. He appears in Eskimo costume, and lectures upon incidents as Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, beginning of Lent.
H. A. Dickel was a business visitor in Los Angeles on Monday.
F. A. Backs Jr. was a business visitor in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Road Overseer Steadman is grading the county road west of the city limits a distance of three miles.
The ladies' aid society of hte M. E. church will meet on Thursday, March 2, at the home of Mrs. Thompson in West Anaheim.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Melrose and Miss Winifred Melrose spent several days with relatives and friends in Los Angeles.

R. M. Dawson, a newspaper man recently arrived from Phoenix, A. T., has taken charge of the Fullerton Tribune. Mr. Dawson is a newspaper man of experience and observation, has been many years in harness and will doubtless make good on his new job, although the weather is cool on the coast for Arizona editors. The Tribune is now being printed half at Riverside and half at Fullerton.
A. A. Mills received a letter yesterday from State Engineer Ellery saying that in his opinion there was no question that the state highway would be constructed through Orange county. This means that the highway from the Los Angeles to the San Diego county line will be built through this section with a portion of the $18,000,000 bond issue voted by the state last November.
The February session of the W.H.M.S. of the M.E. church was held at the home of the president, Mrs. J. F. Walker on Thursday, the 23d, with a large number of members present. Mrs. J. E. Jayne had charge of the program, the subject being, "The women behind the work." The subject of "making a trip to foreign countries" was discussed and it was decided to arrange for the tour in the near future. The March meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. G. M. Tedrick.
Erwin Kellogg suffered the fracture of three ribs and the left shoulder bone by falling from a windmill some days ago at the Kellogg ranch at West Anaheim. He ascended the ladder for the purpose of procuring a bucket of water, the faucet being temporarily out of commission, and as he was in the act of descending, slipped and fell to the ground a distance of thirty feet. He fell upon his left side, breaking the ribs and shoulder bone as stated. Physicians were immediately called, and the fractures reduced. He is getting along as well as could be expected, and will probably soon be able to be out torin in Los Angeles on Monday.

Road Overseer Steadman is grading the county road west of the city limits a distance of three miles.
The ladies' aid society of hte M. E. church will meet on Thursday, March 2, at the home of Mrs. Thompson in West Anaheim.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Melrose and Miss Winifred Melrose spent several days with relatives and friends in Los Angeles.
W. F. Laird was in town on Tuesday afternoon from Los Angeles. He reports his oil well in Santa Barbara down 4000 feet, with excellent prospects of developing into a fine producer.
F. D. Waller has sold to Rufus Davis the south half of his property on the Potter place, North and West streets, for $5000. Mr. Waller has moved with his family into the Detmer cottage on the county road.
A party of Elks comprising Henry Adams, H. G. Ames, B. V. Beebe, W. P. Quarton, H. Holland, and Messrs Trindle, Gilmore and Biggs attended a meeting of the lodge at Santa Ana on Tuesday evening.
The Ebell society will meet Saturday, March 4, at 2:30, at the high-school auditorium. Members will please turn out in full force and be ready to quote from Emerson. Subjects interesting to all will be discussed.
Petition for letters of administration in the estate of Jane McCarthy, deceased, was filed on Tuesday by D. G. Cole. The estate consists of real estate valued at $2000, cash in bank $1700, mortgages $4300, making in all $9000.
Peter Boyesen and wife contemplate a trip to Omaha, Neb., next month to settle up business matters, when they expect to return to this city and again take up their residence Mr. Boyesen has made seven trips to California, and says that when he comes to this section again he will bring a number of Nebraska folks with him.
Juvan Ukosavovitch, a Slavonian charged with assault with a deadly weapon, pleaded not guilty in the superior court and his trial was set for April 10th. Defendant is alleged to have struck a man named Lieber over the head with brass knuckles during a quarrel between the men at Orange several weeks ago.
