WATER BOARD MINUTES Proceedings of Meeting Held on Saturday Afternoon Anaheim, Dec. 3, 1910. A regular meeting of the board of directors of the A.U.W. Co. was held on the above date with all members present. The minutes of the preceding regular meeting were read and approved. Attorney Melrose submitted a proposed agreement to be made between the Anaheim Union Water company, party of the first part, and Louis W. Bushard, party of the second part, whereby, in consideration of the conveyance by the said party of the second part, to the party of the first part, of a certain strip of land known as a private alley, in lot 1, block E, vineyard lot D3, city of Anaheim, the said party of the first part argees that if the city of Anaheim shall hereafter compel the opening of said alley as a public alley, and shall designate an assessment district which shall be liable for the costs and expenses of such opening, and if said district shall embrace any property then owned by said party of the second part, in said block E, in vineyard lot D3, the said party of the first part will pay all assessments levied or assessed upon said property in said block, of said party of the first part for said purpose. On motion of Porter seconded by Hale the foregoing agreement was adopted and the president and secretary were instructed to execute the same on behalf of the company. J. A. Smith, E. Gage and others appeared before the board in regard to their request to have the Olinda ditch piped. They were informed of the requirements and probable cost of same, and the parties were requested to draw up a petition and to WINNERS OF SWIFT GAME Moneta Merchants Defeated by a Score of 3 to 0 The baseball game between the Moneta Merchants of Los Angeles and the home team Sunday afternoon, was, perhaps, the swiftest game ever witnessed by the Anaheim fans. One hour and fifteen minutes was the time, and the score was three to nothing in favor of the home team. The Moneta team is one of the best amateur bunches in Los Angeles, and if the local lads had not put up a magnificent and almost errorless game the score would have been different. This is the team which was defeated here by a two to nothing score five or six weeks ago. The game was replete with thrilling plays and unexpected stunts, and only two errors were recorded, one by each team. The most sensational play was Fischer's home run in the third. He made the longest hit ever scored on the diamond—a low liner over the left fielder's head, but was in such a violent hurry to get home that he failed to touch the keystone bag and was called out. Fritz Schneider, who had reached first ahead of him, scored on the hit, however. Fischer also made a safe two-bagger in the first, but the ump mistook a football chalk line for the foul line, and called it a foul. The game was practically a pitcher's battle. Menenscamp, the new pitcher, who replaced Huntington and has been engaged for the season, struck out eleven men, gave one base on balls, and allowed only three hits. In seven innings he permitted only three batters to face him, and in the other two four. Taylor, the twirler for the visitors, was also onto his job. He struck out ten, allowed six hits, and didn't pass a man to first. On motion of Porter seconded by Hale the foregoing agreement was adopted and the president and secretary were instructed to execute the same on behalf of the company. J. A. Smith, E. Gage and others appeared before the board in regard to their request to have the Olinda ditch piped. They were informed of the requirements and probable cost of same, and the parties were requested to draw up a petition and to state therein the amount they would agree to contribute towards the cost of construction, and to submit the petition at a subsequent meeting of the board. The ditch committee were given power to act in regard to the matter of preventing overflow water from damaging the cement pipe, and washing into the county road, at Wintter's corner. The report of the finance committee was received and filed, and warrants were ordered drawn in payment of the various demands therein contained. The reports of the treasurer, superintendent and secretary were each in turn received and filed. Application of E. F. Kellogg for the purchase of ten barrels of cement was on motion granted. A communication was received from Engineer Finkle of Los Angeles, regarding proposed method of crossing the A.U.W.Co. canal at Yorba Linda with a 20 in. steel pipe line to be constructed by the Yorba Linda water company. The matter was referred to the superintendent to consult with Engineer Finkle, and if a satisfactory crossing is decided upon, to request the attorney to draw up a proper contract to be submitted to the board. Applications on file for the transfer of stock were on motion granted. On motion the meeting adjourned. H. S. Armstrong, Secretary. He struck out five men in succession. In the seventh Leland Lewis relieved Fischer, who was sick, and put up an excellent game, getting an assist and a put-out, by picking a fly ball out of the clutches of his big brother. He was thrown out in the ninth for being struck by his own batted ball. Third baseman Miller of the visitors and shortstop Lewis of the locals were exceptionally brilliant in their fielding. One of the pleasant features was the noticeable absence of "crabbing." The knockers, who usually make the game disagreeable to the people who like to see a friendly contest, were not present, and the managers, as well as the spectators, would be much pleased if they would remain away in the future.
