Two weeks ago the first meeting was called to order, 21 members enrolling, with prospects of 50 in view. The Boy Scouts of America as an organization is becoming a great factor all over the world, its principal object being to make good loyal citizens and character-building. It is not sectarian; not military; does not depend on drill; is educational; engages in peace scouting activities and uses every means for development in life saving, manual training, tracking, signaling, nature study, woodcraft and military tactics.
Douglas, who is leading the movement for the local organization, was formerly musician in Company E and is well equipped with experience to lead the movement to success.

John Hartung has sent home and to friends many postal cards pertaining to the Passion Play at Oberammergau in Bavaria. Some of the cards are of the little village itself while others are of the players. John was right to the front in meeting the principal actors and actresses, and the cards bear autographs of Anton Lang who played the part of Christus, and Ottilie Zwink who acted as Virgin Mary. The audiences at Oberammergau were almost as interesting as were the performers. A large percentage of those who witnessed the plays were American tourists. So impressed was John with the Passion Play that he vows at the decennial celebration in 1920 he will head a whole party from Anaheim. Prost.
Capt. Williams entered his auto in the floral parade at Santa Ana on Saturday. The car was decorated with roses, evergreens and flags. The wheels were hidden under circular bands of red, white and blue cardboard. With the Captain were A. B. Markle, S. O. Llewellyn, Mr. Podd and H. Kroeger, the party being attired in soldier's uniforms and regulation caps of war times. From the center of the car Old Glory towered above them, flanked on either side by muskets surmounted by bayonets. The old boys were heartily cheered along the line of march. And after the parade nothing was too good for them. They were surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd, and it was an hour before the old boys were permitted to go on parole, on a solemn promise that they would come again next year.
