APPEAL TO REPUBLICANS Republican State Committee Issues Strong Document The following letter received Tuesday from the republican state central committee, will be found to be self-explanatory: Republican State Central Committee of California. San Francisco, Sept. 17, 1910. Editor Gazette.—The primary campaign has passed into history, and with it, let us hope, all rancor that the great conflict may have engendered. The republican voters at the open polls named a state ticket and chose their representatives to the state convention. That convention has adopted a platform of principles and elected the committeemen and officers necessary to the party organization. Thus for the first time in the history of the party in this state the ticket, the platform and the organization are all clearly and directly decreed by a wide open primary election. Surely those thus entrusted with the party management must feel a new sense of responsibility to the people. It remains with us to vindicate this new political order, which seeks to bring the government nearer and more responsive to the people. As to the ends thus sought, can there be any disagreement among loyal republicans? This executive committee appreciates in the fullest sense the great influence of the press; and the purpose of this letter is to invite you into this committee's confidence. We desire to hear from you at all times as to the political situation in Orange Fair is on today. Three Days Entertainment Provided by Citizens In promoting the comfort of her guests during the three days of the county street fair, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 22, 23 and 24, Orange will introduce innovations that are absolutely unique in the history of street fairs in small towns. The Orange conception of hospitality is to have people enjoy themselves and the little city has gone beyond the ordinary methods to attain that end. The happiest idea yet advanced is that of a Day Nursery, or "baby corral," as it is called, where infants and little children will be well cared for while their parents may give full attention to the various and entertaining features of the fair, with the knowledge that their offspring are being safely and tenderly attended. Mothers who have gone wearily through a day's celebration burdened with a tired child, will appreciate to the full the value of this convenience. Another invariably neglected detail in such entertainments in the small towns is ample provision for public toilets. This need has been supplied by the building of ample and sanitary public toilets at convenient places. Many free entertainments, with free coffee and free lemonade, are features not entirely common to all street-fairs. Hot coffee and cold lemonade will be dispensed without charge, and band concerts, automobile driving contests, high dives, water battles, etc., are free exhibitions. No charge will be made to see the magnificent products display, and the poultry show, which will undoubtedly surpass any- HOT SPRINGS HOTEL BURNS The old hotel building at San Juan hot springs burned down on Friday night, bringing a loss of $1200 to the proprietor, E. R. Forster. The cause of the fire is unknown. Forster carried no insurance. Mice and matches may have caused the fire. The building was erected at the springs twenty-five or more years ago. It was a California house, and was owned by Forster, who has leased the springs year by year for some time from the O'Neill ranch. Forster had just recently completed his summer's business, and all of his tents had been folded up and stored in the building. All of the camp equipment had been stored. Friday evening about 8 o'clock Mr. Forster and another man were sitting on the front steps of the hotel when Forster noticed the odor of smoke. He had no more than remarked upon it than the two made an investigation to find flames ready to burst from the rear of the building. There was no hope of saving the building. The flames were kept from spreading to the mountains. Mrs. Charles Algeyer celebrated her fiftieth birthday anniversary at her home at Brookshurst on Saturday. A sumptuous lunch was served to a number of friends who called to wish her all manner of prosperity and many happy returns of the day. Buggies and implements at greatly reduced prices. Why not take a look and convince yourself. Stern & Good- Many free entertainments, with free coffee and free lemonade, are features not entirely common to all street-fairs. Hot coffee and cold lemonade will be dispensed without charge, and band concerts, automobile driving-contests, high dives, water battles, etc., are free exhibitions. No charge will be made to see the magnificent products display, and the poultry show, which will undoubtedly surpass anything ever held in the county, will be free. Not the least interesting thing to be seen at the Orange fair will be the electrical illuminations, which nightly will transmute the pretty plaza into a fairy garden, blazing with myriad colored lights, producing a highly spectacular effect. A trip into the sky in a captive balloon, a round of the Gay Loop, the miniature Midway, where any number of shows and entertainments may be seen; championship baseball games, merry-go-rounds, confetti, the thousand-and-one concession-men and barkers that go to add to the gayety of nations and street fairs, will have a place in keeping things interesting. Enrol will be camped in the high sierra during these three days. A drill by the Uniform Rank of Anaheim and other Knights of Pythias lodges will be given Friday evening, enacting a military spectacle rarely reproduced in this county. Special trains will return visitors to their homes each evening. The Santa Fe will run a train to Anaheim and Fullerton at 11 p.m. IS READY FOR BUSINESS New Building Company Organized and Begins Operations Finally the charter of the Orange County Investment Company has been received from the secretary of state at Sacramento, the organization meeting has been held and the company is ready for business in all portions of Orange county. They will immediately begin building several houses in Santa Ana which have already bee applied for and will continue the four houses now being erected by the Home Investment company of Anaheim, which company the new concern will absorb. The new company will begin business with a paid-in capital of nearly $100,000, and with building tracts in most of the towns of the county. The plan is well known in this vicinity and has become deservedly popular. They expect to build 100 houses during their first year of existence and Mrs. Charles Algeyer celebrated her fiftieth birthday anniversary at her home at Brookshurst on Saturday. A sumptuous lunch was served to a number of friends who called to wish her all manner of prosperity and many happy returns of the day. Buggles and implements at greatly reduced prices. Why not take a look and convince yourself. Stern & Goodman, Fullerton. E. L. Warner representing the tombstone firm of J. D. Sanborn of Los Angeles was a business visitor in town on Tuesday.
