Knowlton and daughter attended the funeral of Miss Beveredge at Hollywood Wednesday of last week. Mr. Knowlton was a member of Gov. Beveredge's cavalry regiment during the civil war, and the warmest friendship has since subsisted between them. The governor is still hale and hearty in his 86th year. Wm. Schmolze leaves on Monday for San Francisco, whence he goes on a visit to the fair at Seattle. He will later proceed to St. Paul, Chicago and Ohio points, after which he goes to his home in Pittsburg. He has been in this city upwards of a year for his health, which has been entirely restored under sunny skies and ideal weather. He will probably come out again before winter, when it is entirely probable he will decide to remain and grow up with the country.
