Selinger Leads the Bunch
Lieut. Selinger again demonstrated his superiority as a rifleman at regimental target practice at the Los Angeles range on Friday and Saturday. His score was the highest made in the two-day's shooting. From the contestants a team will be selected to enter the state shoot, and from the latter will be chosen the team to participate in the national riflemen's contest at Camp Perry, Ohio.
Selinger's score was 349 points. Lieut. Bert T. Demmitt, Co. A, Los Angeles, was a close second with 346 points. Lieut. H. O. Higgins, Co. M, Riverside, came third with 221 points.
The target practice was a great deal faster Saturday than the day before. In some cases the men became confused and rattled and did not make the showing as on former occasions.
Col. Schrieber and staff had so arranged matters that in only one or two instances was there a hitch. Friday night no one was allowed to leave camp and Saturday morning everyone was fresh and ready for the day's work.
A number of army officers and civilians were in attendance, among them Adjutant General J. B. Lauck.
After two days of hard work camp was broken at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
Following is the result of Saturday's shoot:

Ana's Sugar Factory takes were being driven the for the beet sugar factory to Santa Ana, officers of the California Sugar Company securing a right of way for the line from the center of that town to the site of the factory. This, with the exception of one piece, has been secured. Condemnation proceedings have been begun against J. M. Talcott, the owner of that piece.
The sugar company has a contract with the Pacific Electric that the line will be built, provided the right of way is given. The line will be in operation before the beginning of the next sugar beet season.
The road is to run from the Pacific Electric freight yards on East Fourth street, east of French street, south to First street, thence south along Maple avenue to Chestnut, where it strikes acreage property at the W. A. Stafford place, and then on south to the site of the factory, at the corner of South Main street and Delhi road.
The people of that community are jubilant over the securing of the right of way. It means a "starter" for an electric line to either Huntington Beach or Newport Beach. Huntington Beach has secured a right of way to Talbert, which is across the river from the sugar factory site.
