The case of John Hahn vs. Frank Hahn, in which the latter's election as justice is contested, comes up for going in the superior court tomorrning. Plaintiff will be represented by R. Daniel of Santa Ana, and the adjudant by R. Melrose and O. T. Horst of this city. Gates defeated by one vote at the recent munilionary election, but the latter claims votes thrown out would have used him had they been counted. This was declared duly elected by the end of election and is at present a member of the city board. He is prepared to carry the case to the supreme Court if necessary. Mr. and Mrs. John Hartung returned Monday evening from San Francisco, after a month's absence in the northwest metropolis. They witnessed the city of Admiral Evans' fleet of 42 ships into the Golden Gate, which Mr. Hartung states was the grandest pageever seen in that city. The parade and in honor of the fleet was likeer than the greatest military parade ever pressed in San Francisco. The city being rapidly rebuilt, many superb crapers having been erected in the years following the fire. Mr. and R. Hartung visited the battleships torpedo-boats and were shown at the vessels. They report a most visible visit in the northern metr- Judge J. E. Raker, chairman of the democratic state central committee, is a brother of Mrs. F. C. Spencer of this city. Judge Raker is a resident of Modoc, is aged 46 and master of the grand lodge of Odd Fellows. Mr. Spencer says concerning him that although he is a democrat, he is a pretty good sort of a fellow. The recent democratic state convention had a political house-cleaning, and overthrew the incubus of railroad domination, and Judge Raker took a hand in the slaughter. This is what the republican party must do, get rid of the railroad machinists now fastened to it like leeches, or its name will be Dennis two years from now. Refreshments were served and an enjoyable party participated in. The city band gave an open-air concert at the county park in Santiago canyon on Sunday. A large crowd of picnickers were present to hear the music and enjoy an outing under the umbrageous trees in the canyon.
