COUNTY LINING UP FOR TAFT Orange County Republicans Endorse the War Secretary—President's Policies Commended — Ringing Resolutions The following resolutions were adopted at the Orange county republican convention in session at Santa Ana on Thursday: Whereas, Theodore Roosevelt, president of the United States, in his principles, policies and character, represents the highest type of American patriotism and republican principles, and Whereas, The perpetuation of these principles and policies is the highest duty of the republican party and the great need of the American people, and Whereas, His boundless energy, limitless activity, and unflinching courage have affected more far reaching and beneficent results to the American people than have been secured by any president, except Washington and Lincoln, and having inspired that people, irrespective of party affiliation, to higher ideals of patriotism, purer practices in politics, and more conscientious discharge of the political duties resting upon them by virtue of their ultimate sovereignty, and Whereas, It is the duty of every republican and every convention of republicans to declare their appreciation of this illustrious leader and to pledge their support to his all important work, Now, Therefore, By the republicans, of Orange county, California, in connection with be made by the republican only party which is committed to tactive tariff policy, and conglomeration of unstable who have no settled nation on any subject but who are experimenting with some reform in order to gain the people necessary to get Sixth—That we extend a come to Admiral Robley D. his peerless fleet, and to the men who accompany him of rank or station; and with the national administration dom, may find it expedient portion of this fleet on our protection of the Pacific any future emergency or may arise. First—That we express our unqualified endorsement and profound admiration for the unfaltering courage, the honesty of purpose, the wise forethought and ceaseless energy of the greatest of living Americans and republicans, Theodore Roosevelt, our honored president. Second—That for the purpose of assisting in the completion and maintenance of what are now popularly known as "Roosevelt Policies" and to the end that the republican party may continue to place at the head of the affairs of this nation men who by their conduct and ability have proven themselves worthy to represent the mightiest and most progressive government, we hereby pledge our united support to the Hon. William H. Taft for president of the United States, and instruct our delegates to the state convention to vote and work for his nomination, and we pledge ourselves to put only such men on guard as delegates and candidates as can be relied upon to carry out the policies and principles of these great and inspiring leaders, and enforce with new meaning and vigor in all departments of government the early and all-important principles of the republican party declaring that all men are equal before the law, and that equal and exact justice shall be meted out to all of our citizens, not only without regard to race, color, or previous condition of servitude, but also without regard to wealth or poverty, influence or obscurity. Third—We endorse the state administration led by Gov. Gillett, our senators and representatives in congress and our members of the state legislature; and we wish at this opportune time to express the thanks of all Orange county to Senator Frank P. Fourth—That we endorse any and all efforts to secure greater protection and harbor facilities for the Pacific coast, and urgently request the assistance of California's representatives in congress in expediting the improvement of Newport Bay, which we believe to be the best natural harbor between San Francisco and San Diego, and we furthermore instruct our nominees for the assembly and state senate to use all honorable means to secure an appropriation from the state for building jetties at the mouth of Newport Bay and asking general needed improvements for a harbor. Fifth—That we condemn all theories and policies intended to destroy the protective tariff system of this country upon which California depends chiefly for its prosperity and development. We are in favor of a reasonable adjustment of tariffs where necessary to correct abuses or injustices which changed conditions may indicate, in order to maintain as nearly as possible complete equity between the producer and consumer; but we maintain that the continued prosperity of this country demands that any tariff changes should Notice to Creditors ESTATE OF MICHAEL NEIPP, deceased. On motion of Director Sherwood, seconded by Director Hale, the president and secretary were authorized to sign in behalf of the com- pany the contract with the Byron-Jackson machine works. The representatives of the Edison Electric company, the Western Gas Engine company, and the Fairbanks-Morse company appeared in turn before the board for further consideration and discussion of the several bids for pumping plant at the southeast corner of the Crowther ranch. Several hours were consumed in the consideration of the different propositions after which it was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the bid of the Edison electric company be adopted. Moved by Director McLauchlin, seconded by Director Hale, that the president and secretary be and they are hereby authorized to sign on behalf of the company the contracts with the Edison electric company.
