The Appellate court has sustained Superior Judge West in refusing to grant a writ of prohibition stopping further proceedings against George Yung, the Orange blind-pig performer. Yung’s first trial in the Orange township court resulted in a mistrial. Corney Pendleton, attorney for Yung, applied to Judge West for a writ of prohibition stopping further proceedings against his client. His petition was refused. He took the case to the Court of Appeals, and was again turned down. Now he is in San Francisco and may take the case before the supreme court. A change of venue has been granted by the Orange judge to Fullerton township.
Charles Humphreys, alias Roy Carson, the crook who robbed Sam Lee of $110 in December, escaped state’s prison by a disagreement of the jury which heard his case in the superior court last week. The jury stood 6 to 6, the prisoner’s weeping mother and Attorney Bishop’s chills-and-fever rhetoric combining to save the culprit. He will be tried again. Charles Patino, his accomplice, is on trial this week. May Stewart, the girl implicated in the case who engaged the Chinaman in conversation in a rear room of his store while the men broke into his till and riffled it of its contents, is also out of custody.
Gus Hansen was in town from his ranch at Buena Park on Monday. He is milking ninety cows, from which he gets a ton of milk per day. He has installed a separator and ships cream to Los Angeles, where excellent prices prevail. Mr. Hansen is one of the largest producers of milk in Orange county and has recently erected several substantial dairy buildings on his ranch.

Emil Dreyfus arrived from San Francisco yesterday, in response to telegraphic advices of the fire in Stern's store, which is located in his mother's building. After adjusting losses with the insurance company, he returned north last evening. Emil says San Francisco is rapidly rebuilding and fast wiping out evidences of the fire.
Mr. Neff has made the following appointments for farmers' institutes in San Diego county: Fallbrook, May 4th; Escondido, May 6th; Oceanside May 7th; El Cajon, May 8th. Highlands May 11-12; Rialto, May 13-14; San Dimas May 15-16.

Mrs. Marie Hartung has begun suit in the superior court of Los Angeles county contesting the will of her deceased sister, Miss Alice Chevalier, who died a year ago, leaving an estate variously estimated at from $20,000 to $30,000 to a third sister, Mrs. Louise Holmes. Mrs. Hartung has retained E.A. Meserve of Los Angeles to appear in court for her.
