May Stewart, the woman charged jointly with Humphreys and Patino with robbing Sam Lee of $110 in December, was last week discharged from custody in San Diego, whither she had been taken to answer to a charge of burglary. The charge of grand larceny pending against her in this county was dismissed. The San Diego officers failed to make a case against her, and the woman was set at liberty. Though undoubtedly a crook, officers have been unable to learn her identity, or former place of residence, and her true name has not been disclosed.
Pierce & Schwentker report the following exchanges of realty: O. L. Thompson exchanged a house and one and one-half lots on Philadelphia street, valued at $3000, for 80 acres improved property in Coffee county, Kansas, valued at $4000, and owned by Mr. Robinson. Mr. Thompson pays $1000 in cash. He has already gone to Kansas, and Mr. Robinson is in possession of his new holdings here. Wm. Holman to F. Maabs, 20 acres near Magnolia school house, $2000.

Kerk Merritt reports 637 registers within the municipal increase over two years ago
John G. Wirsching will in the near future establish a new industry, in the manufacture of miniature peanut crates, made of Orange wood with base of California redwood. These crates will contain three mammoth California peanuts, grown by E. W. Brewer of Placentia, grower of the largest peanuts in the world. Alongside of them will be four Spanish peanuts, showing the remarkable contrast in size. The crate bears the label, "Three of a kind beat two pair." Inside one of the mammoth peanuts is a miniature doll. These crates will be sold as California souvenirs. Mr. Wirsching will present a crate to each officer in the battleship fleet. Mr. Brewer was awarded the gold medal for peanuts at the James-town exposition.
The chamber of commerce exhibit room has been added to by receipt of a fine exhibit of flour from the Olive mill, and a string of fancy peppers from Allan Knapp. Mr. Rose has res-filled the grain exhibit, the tables have been stained by Mr. Webb, and the interior presents a more inviting aspect. Exhibits of fruit and vegetables are desired. Those having samples of good size and quality are invited to bring them in.
The output of the Olive milling company for the past year is stated as having been the largest for a period of ten years. The capacity is now 100 barrels of flour daily and in addition to this large quantities of cereals, feed, etc., are also turned out. The company has eighteen employees, its payroll footing up $1100 monthly. The mill has been in operation over twenty years. It is owned by Orange county residents and the plant property, stock and equipment is valued at $60,000.

Death of Miss Bradford
Elsie G. Bradford, only daughter and Mrs. A. S. Bradford of Placentia died at the family home on day evening of last week, at 8 p.m., after an illness extending over three years. Death was no gastritis. Deceased was aged 75, and had lived with her partner Placentia for 17 years. She is native of Massachusetts, and also Orange county with her family many years ago last October. She member of the Eastern Star, and East Matron of Fullerton chapter, funeral occurred on Friday afternoon. Rev. Hopkins of the Ful-Presbyterian church conducted burial services, and preached im-

The Ebell club will give a reception on its next meeting, on Saturday afternoon, April 4th, at Odd Fellows' hall.
Walter Baker of Santa Ana, formerly nightwatchman of that city, has been placed under arrest on a charge of selling wet goods. Baker conducts a pool room, and is a prominent county-seat democratic politician.
The school election occurs on Friday, April 3d. Wm. Schwenckert and Jos. M. Backs jr. are candidates for school trustee, and J. S. Howard is named as a candidate for highschool trustee.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lewis and Le兰德 Lewis went to Los Angeles on Monday to witness a ball game between St. Vincent's and Berkeley, in which Fayette Lewis played shortstop for the visitors. The game went 11 innings, St. Vincent's winning by a score of 7 to 6.
The nines played again on Tuesday, Ernest of Long Beach played short. The game resulted: St. Vincent's 4, Berkeley 3.
Conrad Wagner of Placentia on March 17th filed two attachments against W. R. Carpenter and wife, aggregating $1170. Carpenter's whereabouts are unknown. He recently executed a mortgage for $8000 upon a twenty-acre orange grove at Placentia. Ugly rumors are in circulation against the former school superintendent, who recently resigned his office. He is said to have left the state.
Capt. Barr spent Sunday with friends at Long Beach.

The annual examination of the books of the German-American bank has just been completed and we respectfully call your attention to the excellent condition of the bank. Below is a copy of the statement at the close of business March 17th, 1908:
Resources—Loans $70,812.58, real estate $10,348.30, furniture and fixtures $8261.30, expenses, interest and tax $1162.69, total cash $51,293.44. Total $141,877.31.
Liabilities—Capital stock $30,000, surplus $1000, interest and exchange $1715.14, cashier checks $25, checking deposit $55,983.73, time deposit $52,-371.30, certificates $782.14 (total deposits $109,162.17). Total $141,877.31.
We the committee appointed to audit the books of the German American bank, have examined the same and find them correct. Charles H. Humphreys, alias Roy Carson, is on trial in the superior court on a charge of grand larceny. He is the man accused of robbing Sam Lee of $110 in this city the morning of Dec. 22d.
