C. E. Groat has bought the 320 acre alfalfa ranch of Ford & Chase seven miles north of Corona. This property includes a ranch house, large barns and a large pumping plant.
Mrs. Charlottie Adams Corneille entertained Mrs. Alice Reed Fiske of Helena, Montana, and Mrs. George K. Bretherton of Los Angeles the latter part of the week.
Joe and Charley Wagner and a party of friends, with a pack of bounds, indulged in a coyote chase up in the La Habra valley on Sunday. The varmints were scarce, only one coyote being killed.
Wallop Bros. regaled their friends on Saturday afternoon and evening with a dainty repast of 57 different varieties of good things for the table. The goods were the well-known Heinz preparations and included tomato soup, baked beans, apple catsup, pickles and other dainty articles of diet. These were nicely served and the spread added much to the popularity of the store.
J. B. McFarland and family departed on Tuesday for Hunt, Kern county, where they will take up their permanent residence. A carload of household goods accompanied them. Mr. McFarland was one of the first to invest in the new townsite of Hunt which

Rev. T. Beazley, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here, but for some years past a resident of Fullerton, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T. Brown, in that city on Saturday afternoon. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church in Fullerton on Monday afternoon, interment being made at the Anaheim cemetery. Deceased was a native of England and was aged 74. He had resided in this country since 1870. He was 14 years a missionary in Australia and was a member of the Masonic lodge. He was a kindly old gentleman, and had many friends here and at Fullerton who will regret to hear of his death.

Justice of the Peace Smithwick of Santa Ana decided on Monday that a farmer, who is bothered by a meadow lark, or any other non-game bird, may drive it all over his ranch, and onto a county road, if he wants to and kill The point came up in the trial of a Japanese, L. Doi, who lives at Villa Park. He was arrested on complaint of Deputy State Fish Commissioner Clinton Imes. The Jap's attorney asked for a verdict of not guilty on the ground that the meadow lark had been feeding on a pea patch.
