A report gained currency on Christmas day that an attempt had been made the preceding night to rob the postoffice. The rumor was caused by the discovery that one of the large panes of glass above the lock boxes in the east wall had been broken. An investigation showed the interior of the building to be intact. A solution of the mystery was forthcoming on Thursday, when a young man living near town came in and said he was responsible for the broken glass. In his eastern home, he said, patrons of the postoffice mailed large packages by casting them through the transoms at the top of the lockboxes. Thinking the upper window was of similar device, he tried to throw his package in.

Miss Minnie Champlin, daughter of E. W. Champlin, was married to Wm. McEachran, at the residence of the bride's father on North Los Angeles street, at high noon, Wednesday, December 25. The bride has resided in this city from childhood and is deservedly popular with a large circle of friends.
