Major William Jackson of Orange was in town a day or two ago in the interests of the Maier’s walnut hullers. T. A. Darling returned the first of the week from a fortnight's desert prospecting trip in the country near Indio. He was accompanied by B. F. Richards, a Chicago mining expert. Mr. Darling left yesterday for the San Bernardino mountains where he will remain some time on a prospecting tour.
Mr. and Mrs.Jos. Helmsen and family and Mr. and Mrs.Peter Weisel enjoyed an auto ride to Santiago canyon on Sunday afternoon.

Perry, Ohio, was in town this week guest of John Selinger, who was a member of the team. Mr. Kopf cousin of Major Vestal of Santa Ana and will remain in Southern California two or three weeks before returning his home in the north.
Harold H. Moore, traveling passenger agent of the Santa Fe railway company, was in town this week doing a town. Mr. Moore informed him upon the electric-railway situation gathered in a volume of business his company and shook hands with many friends hereaway. He no many improvements in town, and Anaheim was the best city of its in Southern California. Welcome our city, Harold!
Joseph Hollingworth, former resident of this city, has gone with Mrs. Hollingworth to his former home in Beatrice, Nebraska, on a two month visit. His son, Capt. Hollingworth who was wounded in the Philippine war, was recently appointed postmaster at Beatrice. Arch Hollingworth continues in his position as cartoonist the Oregonian and has lately given the police detail. His sister Amy is employed in the electric school.
J.W. Parsons has purchased a trunk of twenty acres of land at West Anaheim, as well as property at Newphee Heights, and has moved here with a family to reside. He is recently framed Artesia, and comes to Orange county as offering lower taxation and better opportunities of investment. Mr.Horsons will take an active hand in developing this section which he pronounces the best he has yet seen in Southern California.
Gus Stern was in town from Fullerton on Friday on his way to attend session of the superior court at Santa Ana. Gus has a claim of $8000 against the estate of the late Wm.McFadden who died some months ago at La Habra. The deceased left an estate valuation at $6500. Mr.Stern filed upon his property and has taken charge of the same. Mr.McFadden was farming large tract at La Habra. He purchased mules of Mr.Stern to the amount $3000 and farming machinery amounting to $5000. Had he lived wo doubtless have netted a large sum from his crop. He died suddenly, death...

Gerald Sandilands and mother returned this week from San Francisco, whither they were called by the illness and death of Louis Sandilands. Mrs. Sandilands was at the bedside of her son several days preceding dissolution, but our fellow-townsman was unable to see his brother alive. The mother had visited her son a fortnight previously, and left him in good health on returning to this city. She was immediately thereafter called to San Francisco by her son's serious illness. Death was due to typhoid fever. Intestinal ulceration ensued, and a surgical operation was resorted to. The unfortunate young man, who formerly resided in this county, failed to recover. Interment occurred at Oakland.
Mrs. Sandilands will remain here until next week, when she goes to Ottowa to visit relatives, and will proceed thence across the Atlantic to her home in London.
Walter Johnson pitched against Chicago at Washington on Friday, the game going to the Windy City by a score of 2 to 1. Johnson held the opposing batsmen down to six hits. In a second game the same day the Senators were shut out, with Walsh in the box, 11 to 0. Johnson is signed up by Washington at $450 per month. The club management at first offered him $350, but Johnson replied he did not have to play ball if he didn't want to, and it was $450 or back to California. The manager came through.

J. H. Zitt of San Diego, who owns extensive property interests here writes as follows concerning the coming electric railway: "I am glad to read in your paper that your prospects are so good for getting that trolley road. That is what you need badly. After you get the road, 'Watch Anaheim Grow.'"
