Miss Ella Rea is spending a month with friends in San Diego.
Miss Anna Knapke of Oxnard visited with friends in town this week.
Charley Fiala is doing relief work in Andy Fuhrberg’s emporium.
It is said moonlight launch parties on Newport bay is the latest society fad.
Peter Weisel will shortly commence the erection of a $3000 dwelling on Emily street.
N. F. Steadman enjoyed a visit the past week from an old-time friend, N. A. Jacobs of Riverside.
Miss George Bailey of Phoenix arrived yesterday and will spend some weeks visiting relatives and friends.
E. L. Olmstead returned on Friday from his trip to Siskiyou county, whither he went on a mining proposition.
William Lloyd Field, aged 23, and Alice Nettie Hains, aged 21, of Buena Park were married in Santa Ana on Thursday.
Orange county has been noted for years for its fine peanuts. They grow here larger than in Virginia or North Carolina and much larger than in foreign countries. There are sections all along the San Gabriel and Los Angeles Rivers where this crop will grow as well as in Orange County in the rich bottom lands adjacent to the Santa Ana River.
Miss Bernarda Castillo of Yorba and Stephen De La Reyes of Fullerton were married in the latter city on Saturday.
Henry Adams celebrated his forty-first birthday anniversary on Wednesday.
Fred T. Rimpau forwards Mexican cigars from Fairbanks, in honor of the recent birth of the daughter. The cigars have passed around the office force, hands are smoking the good he Mr. Rimpau and his family.
Ellis Hinman of Goldfield guest this week of his old-time Chris Gilderman. Mr. Hinman formerly in the butcher business has struck it rich in the mines and forsaken his former avocation.
One of the successful raisers of toes is George P. Nance, south town. Off of eight acres he had 406 sacks of Burbanks, average pounds to the sack. He receives per hundred net, making a total $1093.46.
Alfred Clary, the young man confessed to having slugged and Isaiah Baker, an aged resident of port, recently has been allowed on probation. For the next four Clary must report to the sheriff a month. He must not go into neither may he associate with companions, or he will be subject to the penalty imposed in such cases two pals in the holdup are held trial.

A bicycle belonging to Rev. Mitchell was stolen from the Presbyterian church last Wednesday evening. He had left it against the study steps, and when he went to look for it had disappeared. On Thursday it was found in the weeds on West Broadway, near the Rimpau residence. Rev. Mitchell is elated over its discovery.
Mr. A. B. Richardson and daughters, Iza and Helen, and the Misses Kate Rea, Lela Steadman, Lillie Zeus, Emma Backs, Edna Lyons and Violet Nebelung are spending a fortnight at Laguna Beach.
Clyde Bishop has sent out good-roads petitions to every precinct in the county. These petitions are to be gathered together and presented the board of supervisors with the request that the board proceed along the legal way toward bonding the county for good roads. It is said these petitions will be called in in about thirty days.
Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Armstrong and daughter, Miss Edleen, and Mrs. Wm. S. Armstrong and daughter, Miss Irma, of River Falls, Wisconsin, visited with B. F. Young and family of Huntington Beach the past week. The entire party spent Thursday at Bay City and Balboa, where they had a delightful time.
Joseph Helmsen, while driving his automobile on Sunday evening, met with an accident at the corner of Olive and Sycamore streets which resulted in throwing his wife from the vehicle and inflicting severe bruises upon Mrs. Steadman. The automobile was quite badly wrecked and had to be taken to a garage for repairs. At the point indicated a telephone pole stands well out in the street, and the wonder is that more accidents have not been caused by it.

The new brick being built in Fullerton for Cline Bros. by P. A. Schumaker is being pushed along at a rapid pace, and when completed will be one of the finest store buildings in that city.
While pumping water by the aid of a horse on the old Strehle place on Olive street, the animal backed into the well-pit. It required an hour and a half of time to rescue the beast, which escaped with but slight injuries.

The Independent Fruit Company has shipped its last carload of Valencia oranges, making ten carloads sent out the past few weeks. The growers were paid from $2 50 to $3 per box, net.
