LOCAL EVENTS Misses Hill were visitors in Los Angeles during Fiesta. F. C. Spencer and Aug. Schumacher are in Los Angeles as delegates to the meeting of the Odd Fellows' grand lodge. Mrs. Gates and Mrs. Kate Chamberlain are in Los Angeles attending the state assembly of Rebekahs. H. K. Magoon, the well-known Los Angeles capitalist, was in town on Tuesday on a brief business mission. Joseph M. Backs, jr., has a force of six linemen stringing wires for new phones in this city, and expects this week to make connection with the Placentia suburban line. J. H. Enearl, Fred Mickle and B. F. Porter were called to Santa Ana on Tuesday on a venire of jurymen to try a felony case in the superior court. Company E members will give a social dance at the armory this (Thursday) evening after drill. Good music will be furnished and a pleasant time is anticipated. Dr. Adams has purchased a Ford runabout from Sandilands & Weisel, and is taking lessons in making it fly. If pedestrians on the sidewalk discover the doctor and his machine come tearing over the curb at a forty mile clip, let them take no alarm, because the doctor doesn't mean it and does not yet savey the business. Lusky of the Lutheran church conducted the burial services. Interment was made in the Anaheim cemetery. Deceased had lived here with her family for many years and was highly esteemed by those who knew her. She leaves a husband and family of grown-up children to mourn her loss.
