The following collections were reported for the month of March: Water $418.72, electric light $578.20, license $576.25, total $1573.17. Delinquents collected: Water $35.15, electric lights $13.10, total $48.25. Delinquents reported: Water $51.50, license $8.75, electric lights $118.05, total $178.30. The following funds were reported in bank: General fund $2121.87, 1906 improvement fund $29,003.60, improvement fund No. 1 $862.50, No. 2 $147, No. 3 $405, No. 4 $2525, Broadway widening $502.02, total $35,566.98. Recorder Howard reported ten cases tried in his court during the month and fines imposed amounting to $58. Among the victims was Johnny Stribling who sought to turn Los Angeles street into a race course the preceding Sabbath. Johnny has a fast horse, but a Santa Ana man had a better one, and the oil man lost his dough. Subsequently he was fined $20 for his fun, this being his second offense. The Santa Ana man was fined $5. The superintendent of streets reported water connections made for new buildings, trees replanted in parkings, teams hauling dirt from new wellpit, and pole line constructed on Olive and Alberta streets. Trustee Fiscus of the finance committee reported auditing bills against the city amounting to $2318.67. Trustee Kroeger of the ordinance committee introduced resolution of intention for laying cement sidewalks and curbs on Palm street from Cypress to Broadway, and on the west side of Melrose street from Center to Broadway; also plans and specifications for sidewalks and curbing on other streets. H. Deutsch wrote asking permission and Sycamore streets, with and ordered filed. H. A. Dickel addressed asking a contribution for centennial celebration. Had been informed by C. Mrs. Langenberger wrote asking that the contemplated cement sidewalk on the north side of Cypress street between Lemon and Palm, be deferred for the present, the land being acreage property. Should the walks be ordered she would be required to move 1100 feet of fence, also barns, etc.. Mrs. Langenberger added that she intended laying cement sidewalks on this line in the near future, but that if the work were ordered now it would work her grievous harm. Her request was granted. George Bender was granted permission for the erection of a $700 house on Olive near Cypress. S. J. Smith & Co. wrote from Los Angeles acknowledging receipt of remittance of $465 for supplies furnished, and pointing out that the second payment in similar amount was due. A shortage in receipt of material was noted at the board's last meeting, which resulted in hanging up the claim. Subsequently Smith wrote all missing supplies would be forwarded as soon as received from the factory east. These have not as yet been received, but the board ordered second payment made. A third payment in similar amount will complete the payments, and pending receipt of missing machinery this latter sum will be run on a sidetrack with instructions to wait for orders. STANDARD OIL COMPANY Incorporated Resolution of Intention No. 67, A resolution declaring it to be the intention of the Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim to order cement sidewalks, cement curbs and cement alley crossings to be constructed on certain portions of Palm Street and Melrose Street in said City. The Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim, State of California, do hereby resolve and declare that the public interest and convenience require, and that it is the intention of the said Board of Trustees to order, the following work to be done, to-wit: 1. That a cement sidewalk five feet in width, and a cement curb be constructed on the East side of Palm Street in said City, from a point 167 feet North of North line of Center Street to a point 20 feet North of the North line of Broadway Street; and that a cement alley crossing, 16 feet in width, be constructed on the East side of Palm Street between A large number of signers attended upon the meeting, bringing a number of gentle sexes, there was no speechifying, as the Board accepted the petition and it filed, and further ordered all officers to take steps to pre-vent contest. That a cement sidewalk five feet in width, and a cement curb be constructed on the West side of Palm Street in said City, from the South curb line of Cypress Street to the North curb line of Broadway Street; that a cement alley crossing 14 feet in width be constructed on the West side of said Palm Street, between Chestnut street and Broadway street, the center line of said crossing being 165.44 feet South of the South line of Chestnut Street. 3. That a cement sidewalk five feet in width, and a cement curb be constructed along the West side of Melrose Street in said City, from the South line of Center Street to the North curb line of Broadway Street; that a cement alley crossing 20 feet in width, be constructed on the west side of said Melrose Street, the center line of said crossing being 318 feet South of the South line of Center Street; and that a cement alley crossing 18 feet in width, be constructed on the West side of said Melrose Street, the center line of said crossing being 130.05 feet North of the North line of Broadway Street. All of the said work herein described shall be done in accordance with the plans, profiles and cross-sections thereof heretofore duly adopted by said Board of Trustees and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and in accordance with the specifications contained in Ordinance No. 162 of said City. The Anaheim Gazette, a weekly newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in said City of Anaheim, is hereby designated as the newspaper in which this resolution of intention and notice of the passage thereof shall be published in the manner and by the persons required by law. The Superintendent of Streets of said City is hereby directed to post notices of the passage of this resolution in the manner and in the form required by law, and to cause a notice similar in substance to be published by one insertion in said newspaper in the manner required by law. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post this resolution of intention conspicuously for two days on or near the chamber door of said Board of Trustees; and to cause the same to be published by two insertions in the manner required by law in said newspaper. All advertising done by the city during said fiscal year must be specified by the inch standard measurement, and all advertising must be done in accordance with the specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk, which specifications shall enter into and form part of the contract to be executed by the successful bidder. A certified check for $10.00 must accompany each and every bid. The Board of Trustees of the City of Anaheim reserves the right to accept or reject each and every bid.
