The archbishop was well known in Anaheim, where his visits were always most pleasurable to his many friends. Some years ago he delivered the Fourth of July oration here, and was for the day a guest of the people of the city. Among all of his friends his death is keenly regretted. The church has lost a learned and broad-minded prelate, and the state an illustrious citizen. Archbishop George Montgomery was born in Davis county, Kentucky, December 30, 1846. Cardinal Gibbons ordained him in Baltimore December 20, 1879, and he was consecrated bishop and coadjutor to Monterey and Los Angeles by Archbishop Riordan in St. Mary’s cathedral in San Francisco, April 8, 1894. On June 10, 1896, Bishop Montgomery succeeded Bishop Mora at Los Angeles, where he remained for seven years, and in October of 1903 was transferred again to San Francisco as coadjutor to Archbishop Riordan. Among other societies and organizations founded by Bishop Montgomery is the League of the Cross Cadets. The Kraemer tract lies west field and a little north of eas heim. Jacob Stern has been that vicinity for some time Golden State Realty Co. has land there. The agreement between M and F. L. Kornfield is to the parcels of land, one contain to Monterey and Los Angeles by Archbishop Riordan in St. Mary's cathedral in San Francisco, April 8, 1894.
