The Huntington Beach News reports that parties are purchasing land in a shoestring district extending northeast from that flourishing seaside resort, and announces that these purchases point to a construction of astrolly line from that point to a junction with the line now approaching Placentia from Los Nietos. These purchases, it adds, are made for the Pacific Electric railway, and extends several miles in this direction. As we have hitherto stated, Mr. Huntington has informed a leading resident of Placentia that he will construct a trolly line from that section through this city to Huntington Beach. Mr. Huntington is after business, and there is no line in Southern California which would tap more business than this cross-country trolly line. We hope to see work undertaken on this line early next year.

No Spurious Money.
A statement in a local publication, and also appearing in a Los Angeles paper, to the effect that bogus $20 gold pieces were in circulation here, brought John F. Cronin, agent of the U.S. secret service, here from Los Angeles in a hurry. Mr. Cronin pronounced the story, after careful examination, a canard, saying there was nothing in the story.
"It is strange how these reports about bad money originate," said he; "there is absolutely no foundation for the story, and it seems a pure invention. After the San Francisco fire there appeared a number of bad $5 gold pieces, but these were speedily run down and retired from circulation. They were apparently genuine pieces of money, but did not ring. There are none of them in circulation now. You may brand this latest story about these bogus double eagles as a canard."
Inquiry at the banks elicited the information that nothing was known of the existence of any bad gold pieces. A few bad $5 gold pieces were rejected some months ago, but since then no bad spurious metal has appeared.
The directors of the chamber of commerce met on Monday evening and discussed matters of local interest. As manager of the famous Walkover baseball club he has earned undying fame and has a secure place in the affection of his friends and neighbors. The Walkover players, by the way, so Arthur informs us, are back to the woods.

Thus cried the hair. And a kind neighbor came to the rescue with a bottle of Ayer's Hair Vigor. The hair was saved! This was because Ayer's Hair Vigor is a regular hair medicine.
