REPUBLICANS SWEEP
ORANGE COUNTY
Elect Entire Ticket with Exception of Sheriff, Treasurer and One Supervisor
Tuesday's election demonstrated the fact that while Gillett and the entire state ticket carry the county by pluralities of 1000, the county candidates fell away below those figures, and two seem to be obscured in the smoke of battle. Walker for sheriff is running 300 votes behind Lacy, his democratic opponent, at noon on Wednesday, with the count two-thirds completed. It is not believed Walker can recover his lost ground, and his defeat is practically conceded by the republican county committee.
The balance of the county republican ticket is elected by majorities running from 250 to 1000. Several of the candidates ran well, among them Williams and Lester, while Scott, Peters and Smith, who had no democratic opponents, are topnotchers in the fight.
Johnny Lamb defeats Robinson for tax collector, while Schenck defeats Supervisor—Third Duty Linebarger Defeats Duty Votes.

Walker's defeat is attributed to the attack upon him of the prohibition party. A circular was issued and spread broadcast throughout the county setting forth the alleged fact that he had signed the prohibition pledge card. When he denied the accusation, the prohibs came back with affidavits supporting their charge. These were distributed by the thousands through-
