LOCAL EVENTS Mrs. Capt. Williams visited over Sunday with friends in Los Angeles. James Wool came down from Los Angeles the first of the week to spend a few days with friends. Samuel M. Davis was over from Santa Ana on Tuesday. Mr. Davis is a candidate for district attorney and was over feeling the political pulse. Miss Emily Warling returned this week from Redlands after an absence of six weeks visiting relatives and friends in that city. Supervisor Linebarger was over from Fullerton on Monday looking at roads. Mr. Linebarger will probably be nominated by the democratic convention to the office he now holds. Mrs. W. H. Lockwood and family of Silverton, Col., have been guests of the families of Messrs. Jones and Owens for a fortnight past. They departed on Tuesday for Los Angeles and will shortly leave for their home in the east. Mr. and Mrs. Fuhrberg chaperoned a party of Los Angeles relatives and friends on a picnic party to Santiago canyon on Tuesday. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Metz, Miss Eichborn and Miss Lydia Gross. C. G. Billings has arrived from the Dakotas, accompanied by Mrs. Billings and will make their permanent home in this city. Mr. Billings is a substantial citizen and will make a desirable acquisition to the community. Pat Seale returned with Company E, having accompanied it to Oakland as chef de cuisine. Pat says the story about his being shot was without foundation, and adds that he was not even removing the roof and tearing out front wall of the Hussman building Center street. Gerald Sandilands is shipping out from five to six carloads of oranges from his packing house weekly. He reports the market in excellent condition and good prices being realized for first-class fruit. Mrs. Rebecca Hetebrink has petitioned the superior court for letters of administration upon the estate of the late Henry Hetebrink. The estate consists of a 100-acre ranch at Placentia and personal property of the value of $28,500. Tom Scott returned to Perris on Tuesday after a brief visit with friends subsequent to the home-coming of Company E from the north. Tom has a soft spot in his heart for Anaheim, and he finds the number of his friends is not lessened by his absence from the places which once knew him. H. A. Dickel returned on Monday evening from his trip to San Francisco. He was successful in securing the discharge of his son Ted from military service in order to get him back in high school in time to graduate. In fact he met Ted in Los Angeles on his way home the first day out. He continued on his trip in order to view the ruins of the city devastated by quake and fire. W. N. North arrived in town on Friday evening last direct from Wisconsin with a view to locating permanently. Frank Tausch returns from Oakland signally honored in his appointment as color sergeant of the Seventh regiment. He is thus attached to Col. Finley's staff, and is no longer officially a member of Company E, although he will continue to drill with the boys at the armory. He has in his keeping the colors of the regiment, including the Stars and Stripes and regimental banner. These are stored at the armory, and are in safe hands. Frank is a good soldier and a good civilian, and is receiving the congratulations of his many friends in the honors that have been conferred upon him. Frank Walter has returned from his trip to Siskiyou county. Skinner & Son have been doing a landoffice business in the automobile line of late. Last week they disposed of four touring cars and a runabout. On Tuesday of this week they sold two, one being for shipment to San Francisco. The sisters of St. Catherine’s academy are preparing to hold the closing ceremonies of the school at the opera-house. The exercises will occur on a Sunday afternoon the latter part of June. O. M. Skinner went to Los Angeles yesterday to bring down two large touring cars. Henry Young, living northwest of town, was severely injured in a runaway on Monday, in which he suffered the fracture of two ribs. Mr. Young was on his way to procure a load of gravel when his horse became frightened and ran away. He was thrown to the ground, receiving injuries which will confine him to his home for several weeks. Oscar Kneipp came down from Los Angeles on Tuesday for a short visit. He was out in Arizona for over a year and lately has entered the employ of Sentous Bros. in Los Angeles.
