Horse Thief Sentenced.
Serafin Corona, on trial in Superior Court for horse theft, was convicted on Saturday by a jury which took little time to decide his fate. On Monday he was sentenced to six years in States prison. Corona was charged with being a member of an organized gang of Mexican horse thieves operating in this and adjoining counties, and his friends offered a stubborn resistance to his conviction. He was defended by Los Angeles counsel, who announce the case will be appealed to the Supreme Court.
Dr. Tyler, of this city, has exchanged practices with Dr. J. L. Beebe, of Lower Lake, Lake County and will next month depart for his new location. Dr. Tyler leaves Anaheim with regret, having had a most successful practice. He goes for the benefit of his health, having been troubled with asthma during his stay in Southern California.
Dr. Beebe is a graduate of the Northwestern Medical College of Chicago and stands high in his profession. He will arrive within a few days and enter upon his practice here.
Miss Gross' Concere.
Miss Lydia Gross entertained a small but appreciative audience at the Opera House on Saturday evening with a concert program which proved her right to be classed among the foremost sopranos of the country. She was assisted by Miss Adella Dotter, violinist, of Los Angeles, and Prof. Thomas was accompanist.
Miss Gross' singing called forth much applause, and she had to respond to numerous encores. The small attendance was owing to the fact that there were other attractions in town, and that Christmas shoppers filled the stores until late.
Miss Gross is a lady of very charming personality, as well as a singer of high merit. She departs shortly for Europe, where she will study voice culture three years, following her recent completion of a seven-year course with some of the leading instructors on the continent. Her friends here may induce her to sing again in this city before her departure, when efforts will be made to greet her with a larger audience.
Miss Gross, Miss Dotter and other Los Angeles ladies who accompanied them were guests during their stay at Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Konig.

She would have been 92 years of age in January. Death resulted from pneumonia. She was ill only three days. The remains were interred in Rosedale cemetery on Tuesday.

Asher & Falkenstein make a very fine display of toys as well as a more substantial line of merchandise appropriate for gifts for the Christmas season. Santa Claus has made his headquarters at the establishment and the children have looked over the comprehensive display with rare delight. The establishment and its stock will well repay a visit; and judging from the crowd of purchasers filling the store they have doubtless caught on to the idea that bargains are offering in all lines.
A deal was consummated on Friday whereby the Palmyra Hotel at Orange with thirteen lots, and all hotel nishings, was sold to a number of Santa Ana investors for a stated consideration of $10,000. The entire property was to have been sold at public auction on the 15th inst., and had already been advertised for sale when the purchaser opened up negotiations which were closed. We can also stop off at Santa Paula Institute January 2d and 3d and be at the field meeting January 3d at the famous Limoneira ranch January 3d. This will be great and we ought to have a big delegation from Anaheim. The program at Santa Barbara is fine, and burning questions are to be discussed. Will you not urge a large attendance from your place? Ask all to come with lighted torches. No one who wishes to keep up with the times can afford to remain away. There will be a rare feast at Santa Barbara. As ever yours truly,

Frank Taylor Woodruff filed suit at Santa Ana on Monday against the Sunset Telephone and Telegraph Company and the Edison Electric Company for $15,000 damages for the death of his son in that town some months ago. The young man, Edward M. Woodruff, was working for the telephone company, and in August was repairing a line. An electric power wire of the Edison company came in contact with the telephone wire and the shock caused him to lose his hold and fall to the ground, sustaining injuries that caused his death. The complaint alleges criminal negligence on the par- of both companies.
