COAST NEWS BOILED DOWN Napa's wine product for the season will reach nearly 3,500,000 gallons. Two men at Pomona have made over $3,800 in catching and killing coyotes since May, and others have paid off mortgages on their homes by getting coyote scalps. Tulare has gone largely into turkey-raising. The first shipment was made a few days before Thanksgiving, and consisted of 13,000 pounds, for the San Francisco market. J. B. Sutton, County Assessor of Plumas, has been indicted by the Grand Jury for taxes which he received for when County Treasurer but failed to give credit for on the books. John Whyte of Pomona will begin suit against the Chino Beet Sugar Company for $27,000 damages sustained by the company's failure to take brick from him which it contracted for. Redlands will vote on January 12th on the matter of issuing twenty year bonds to the amount of $100,000 for the construction of drains and culverts. Six per cent interest is to be paid. The old cry of a large crop and low prices for oranges is being raised at Riverside and buyers are around, as usual, offering abundantly low prices for fruit. The largest bid is 65 cents a box for seedlings. A farmer who has resided many years in San Joaquin county predicts a cold winter. He bases his prediction on the fact that hunter-eraid the birds they kill provided with unusually thick coats of feathers and down, and that all domestic animals show unusually heavy coatings of hair. Those he says are infallible signs of a cold winter. A New York trade journal says there is no market in this country for the imported prune. The California prune has entirely supplanted it. There is a considerable stock of old prunes, a portion of which have been polished and put in a condition to resemble new goods, but the renovating process does not count for much, as the cry is general for the California product. The residence of T. D. Stinson, the Chicago capitalist who has been investing heavily in Los Angeles property, is now approaching completion on Figueroa street. It will be the most costly residence on the coast outside of San Francisco. The contract price of $150,000 will be considerably exceeded. The material is Arizona sandstone and brick. Some of the stone blocks weigh over seven tons, the freight on each of which from Flagstall was $90. As many as seventy men have been working daily on the building. Lucky Baldwin is going to have the most elegant barn for his horses there is to be built. The residence of T. D. Some of the stone blocks weigh over seven tons, the freight on each of which from Flagstaff was $90. As many as seventy men have been working daily on the building. Lucky Baldwin is going to have the most elegant barn for his horses there is to be found in Southern California. It will be located on his Santa Anita ranch and will cost $40,000. Architects are now working upon the plans. It is designed to have stalls of solid oak, nickel-plated feed boxes, sleeping rooms finished in hard stained woods, great French plate glass windows, costly French plaster and elegantly furnished harness and horse equipment rooms. A small ring for exercising the horses will be made in the basement. The average of sugar beets to be planted for use at the Chino sugar factory will be double that of last season. Farmers are so well pleased with their crop and its returns, considering that it was the first crop of sugar beets ever raised in Southern California, that they have decided to go more extensively into beet culture. Over 4,500 acres will be planted to beets in January and February. Steam plows are now being put in readiness. A company of capitalists is planning to plant 1,500 acres of beeta and to sell them to the factory. Retains have been received from several irrigation districts in San Diego county, where elections have been held in the last few days for the formation of irrigation districts and voting of bonds. Fallbrook district, formed some months ago, voted by a large majority to issue $400,000 worth of bonds; Linda Vista, embracing 42,000 acres, the nearest district to the city of San Diego, voted to issue $1,000,000 worth of bonds. The vote in Otay district, embracing 50,000 acres, resulted in a large majority in favor of forming the district. The perfection of Linda Vista and Otay districts will add over 100,000 acres of irrigated land to the immense resources of San Diego county. New Mexico and Arizona will probably enter the Union as States before the end of the fifty-second Congress. Utah will also be an applicant for admission, but the lingering traces of Mormonism will probably keep her out. Enabling acts for New Mexico and Arizona are likely to pass next spring or summer, but the States will not come into the Union early enough to vote for President next year. Bills for the admission of all these Territories will be offered at the first opportunity by their delegates in Congress. It is quite probable that there will be no opposition in either House to the admission of New Mexico and Arizona if they are not to vote for President next fall. It has been fashionable for successful attorneys, says the Los Angeles Herald, to make investments in land in Southern California. She has greatly improved it, and when not making a starring tour she enjoys the delights of one of the finest country homes in the United States. It is now reported that Fanny Davenport has purchased a 330-acre ranch near Anaheim, and that she TAXES. Taxes in the Irrigation District are now due and payable to me at my office on Los Angeles street. Taxes become delinquent December 31st, when the delinquent penalty will be added. I will be in my office for the collection of taxes during business hours until further notice. W. A. WITTE, Collector Anaheim Irrigation District. Wommer & Stock. It has been fashionable for successful addresses, says the Los Angeles Herald, to make investments in land in Southern California. She has greatly improved it, and when not making a starring tour she enjoys the delights of one of the finest country homes in the United States. It is now reported that Fanny Davenport has purchased a 380-acre ranch near Anaheim, and that she intends to build a large house on the property and establish immense game preserves and poultry yards there. She will expand about $80,000 in improvements. The Jersey Lily was credited with having invested a portion of her large professional earnings in a ranch on this coast, but she has never given out any sign that she would make it her home here. There would seem to be a bright idea of thrift in Miss Davenport's programme. The poultry business carried out on a large scale and managed with care and good judgment, might be made a most profitable venture. The price of poultry ranges high enough in San Francisco to leave an immense margin of profit to such an enterprise. Offer Wanted. For 44 25-foot lots in Spoerl tract at Anaheim, near Southern Pacific Railroad depot. There are 5 and 10 lots living together in one piece, any of which will make a nice home for family.
