THE ELECTION. Littlefield Will Be Our Supervisor Incomplete Returns Show the Election of the Entire Republican County Ticket Vote for Our Township Officers Local Returns. Voters in this precinct passed off quietly. The result is somewhat of a surprise, as the proponent was conceded by Republicans to be Democratic majority and it was claimed by one of the uninterested that the precinct would give Cleveland its majority. The results almost a tie vote for electors, and the Republican candidate generally for attention. Littlefield's vote for Supervisor cannot be considered flattering by that general. However, his opponent in the ratio remains the right to come some persons, say, the mayor Democrat, who have been unbeknownst in their support of Beasonett up to within a quarter soof the election, quietly resulted on Tuesday morning and threw their ballots at Littlefield. Whether this hop was due to the gentle influence of the State or opposition by the Merchants lately in a position which at present is the government of third demonstration. The governor of our Democratic kennels has been willing to support the important office for the important office. He has been willing to take that hard line against the State when had been working with many others who were aggrieved by the State's decision. NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS Professor Davidson the Base Line Latest News from Fallerton and centin-Crops at the Lattice-A Family Receives no shock from Supposed Mistreatment. Professor Davidson on the Base Line Recent News from Fallerton and Pinecrest—Crops at the Latter Pinece — A Family Receives a Severe Shock from Suppressed Burglaries By Professor George Davison. The Coast Survey party that is excamped Buena Park is engaged upon a very important work connected with the triangulation along the coast of Southern California. The accurate delineation of our coast line depends upon the character of the measures triangulation, and this latter depends on the accuracy with which the base line measured. At this station a great substructure will be laid, reaching more than a foot below the surface, with a large block in which the minute dot marking the station will be engraved on a copper it. From this station the two five-meter wells will be laid alternately on a straight safe combination. The several gentlemen being such an active and industrious disposition be combined a good deal of work with visit by making a study of the olive industry. He visited the principal olive districts of Italy; new and examined the soil upon which the trees grow; the method of cultivation and gathering the fruit; making oil and pickle. He says the best orchards grow on similar soil to that of the spands or rolling mares near the foothills, such as the Olinda ranch for instance; no irrigation; the climate has but little if any more rainfall than we have here. The yield is abundant; the demand for the oil and pickle unlimited and the supply not near equal to the demand. In fact no great is the demand for the oil that the manufacturers are importing from the United States great quantities of cotton seed oil with which to adulterate, when it is put into their bottles with fancy labels and shipped to all parts of the world. He said if you want to get the pure olive oil it will have to be obtained from the California manufacturer. He is of the opinion that the olive industry is one that we ought to cultivate as a profitable and permanent industry. He also visited the section where the phyllotera has committed its ravages on the once celebrated vineyards of France. He reports that the supposed non-resistant vines sent from California have been attacked and destroyed. He thinks the principal cause of the wholesale destruction is the great poverty of the soil, it having been cropped for hundreds of years, with but little attention given to fertilization. Mr. Loop thinks the olive cultivars is the correct solution for the decaying vineyards and scale-infested orange orchards of California. A move is being made towards getting the land owners between Fallerton and Richfield to give right of way for the Santa Fe route to complete this five-mile gap. If it is not completed shortly, it is more than likely that the S. P. R. R. will get the fifty carloads of fruit that will be shipped from here this year. A carload of English walnuts will be shipped from the Gilman orchard in a few days. W. M. McFaddlen is having a Cyclone windmill put up. S. B. Smith and Theo. Staley are doing the work. J. W. Shanklin will visit this section and Anaheim to inspect and yarn. T. R. Cargil, a gentleman from Freesia, who has paid a number of vints to Anaheim, will be here about December last on another visit. John Wagner is having a granary built. J. P. Grange is doing the work. About fifty tons of rains have been made on Placentia, including those made on the Olinda ranch. The principal growers are W. H. Bailey, T. K. McDowell, Wm. Hadox, Thomas Strain, J. B. Tombes, A. T. Pendleton, Theo. Staley, R. H. Gilman and W. M. McFaddlen. They have sold at an average of about $100 a ton. About 200 tons of wine grapes have been gathered this season and hailed off to the different wineries of Anaheim or manufactured. Kleinigkriten. President Harper. The petition for cutting apart the estate for use of family, in the case of Heinrich Roege, deceased, was granted by Judge Gardner on Monday. The principal hit was over the road overseer's position, which was carried by Mr. Porter, Mr. Smithing defeated by twenty votes. Wm. Starbuck of El Madras has rented a Grimshaw building and has moved his fire stock of drugs and chemicals into the house, and will immediately be prepared to brush drugs of all kinds and put up precautions. The Fullerton Literary Club met at the Portion school on last Friday and elected committee to frame a constitution and laws and bring in names for the club to vote in at the next meeting to be held the same place on Friday eve, Nov. 16. We committees on entertainment have made a programme consisting of readings, music and a debate. An invitation is extended to all residents of the district to attend and join the club. Do not fail to get his prices before buying. Jonathan Watson met with a horrible accident on Tuesday afternoon at his blacksmith shop at Yorba. While engaged in reloading shells for his shotgun, powder was inadvertently placed in one by his little girl when it suddenly exploded; burning Mr. Watson in a frightful manner about the face and arms and throwing the little girl quite a distance. Dr. Hardin was called to attend the sufferers. He reports that he being a miraculous escape for both Mr. Watson and his daughter. Both are getting along as well as possible under the circumstances. One of our welcome exchanges is the San Francisco Union Printer, which is looked for with greater interest with each succeeding month. But when Br. Baker has the tenency to print the following item and vouches for its truth all confidence in his veracity is shaken and the soratching of the journal from our exchange list seriously considered: The Chinese doctor on Sacramento street whose sign reads "Chiog Kee Chiny, Chinese doctor, skillful in both internal and external decisions—drug store attacked," is figuratively knocked out by the sign of a pale brother on Jackson street, which reads: "This coal Yard has moved Cross the Streets." Pironi & Statri, Los Angeles wine manufacturer have crushed 1,000 tons of grapes principally Zinfandel and Mission grapes. These varieties will average from 115 to 135 gallons to the ton. They have yet about the same amount to handle. The grapes of the Nadean vineyard are being worked up by Kohler & Fröhlung. This vineyard embraces 2,200 acres. It is expected that it will yield about 7,000 tons this year. Besides this perhaps 3,000 tons more will be crushed at the winery. The crushing will continue for two weeks. At present about 140 tons per day are being worked into wine. Large quantities of brandy will also be made. Messrs. Kohler & Fröhlung expect to clear about $50,000 from the vineyard.
