Dainty curtains for summer rooms are made of deep cream colored chose cloth with cross stripes of dull pink and golden olive silk faced velvet set between antique insertion or applied over the cheese cloth. A balance for the top of the curtains is composed of two bands of velvet with cheese cloth showing between. At the lower edge a deep fringe of balls or tamels of crewel and silk may be used as a finish. Along the inner edge and bottom is wriggling of antique lace. Napkins and Dollies. Very pretty fruit napkins are made of fine white linen; make each one half a yard square. Fringe out the four edges an inch and a half deep and whip the fringe to prevent its fraying. Tea bristle stains will come out at once if they are taken immediately and held over a pail while boiling water is poured upon them. To avoid having fat left in soups, it is safer to allow them to get entirely cold, when the fat can be easily skinned off. Just enough can be heated each time the soup is served. When using stale bread for packings or tuffing, always cook it in a cold liquid breed that has been soaked in cold milk or water in light and crumbly, whereas that oaked in hot liquids is heavy.
