OUR NEW RAILROAD. Rails Are Now On The Ground. Austin To Be A Railroad Celebration of Note-Trains Entering the Town on All sides—Few Problems. Several carloads of rails for the Austrian, Olinda & Pomona Railroad Company at fixed on the depot the other day and are being built and distributed along the route of the road between Austenburg and Diggle. Edward Records, the President of the corporation, is "a matter," and his efforts are being done and enthusiastically accorded by the Austenburg gentlemen who comprise the Board of Directors. Regiment Ward and members of surveyors have completed the laying out of the routes. The late damp weather has blinded the work on the road to some extent, but time lost will be made up in the future by a means diligent-paid part of the Board of Directors. It is the intention of the proprietors of the road to have trains running at this current period possible, and as the gentlemen are wholly reliable we do not not that this railway will be in operation by the first of April. The road will be an accommodation free principally for the people in this valley. The event of the above railway through this town and vicinity will be one of the grandest communications ever inaugurated by our citizens. It will inflate more into all and we will find more convenient in pursuing other ventures. A very important factor appears in this late column is the fact that freight trains will be materially limited by having their goods our very dears. This alarm will be a great advantage to our prosperous people. This fertile country demands just such a railway and the day is not far distant when we shall see ourselves ranked among the leading cities of commercial importance. Anahiem has an incomparable location for city of note, and every advantage for that accomplishment is being vigorously exerted. Railroads enter this town on every side. would only admit to move. Dr. Gandimer heightened an native number of the board and an efficient secretary, and should be re-admitted. Munnan, Kern and Schuyler's experience and judgment the company must afford to fix, and they might be provided again stand for re-election. Munnan is a midman in the councils of the company—many better can be found. Munnan is a midman worker in the interests of the company; he has proved himself to be one of the most valuable members of the old board, and should be selected if for no other purpose than that of carrying out his pet amount of completing the reservoir. McFadden and Gilman have each served about eleven years on different water boards, and they both positively and emphatically refuse to serve any longer, although both are as popular as ever in the estimation of the stockholders, and could be elected by a handmade vote. The name of T. K. McDowell has been merged as a good man for the North American section; also the names of J. P. Gruney. Both are young men of ability, and either or both would make good directors. The Partition, Hind, Thales, Weddlewood & Co., have stored about them a great many heliophiles. The hose are a bit of rubbish and therefore who gather in the merchant's arrears from the neighbor's sign, pumice, grape, etc., and their immense dispense of third standard property. The numbers of student pupils is as bad as a tide. If this minimum goes on another year as in did the past, a petition will be circulated to have the miniature altered and this opinion subverted. AVANEIM ADVANCING. A Good Bond of Inventory Amount Austenburg in Los Angeles. The boom has struck Austenburg. After drilling all around Austenburg the boom has at last struck home to Austenburg, and judging from the report of Mr. are Staminton & Matthews, who have lately held much累积 auction sales here, it has come to stay. These gentlemen say that the securities they are daily receiving regarding Austenburg property for example that of any other member. They have already sold a large number of the reserved lots in the Loreal track, having cleared out the entire Centre almost frontage of the property. Many of the lots bought at the auction sale recently held by team of that track, have already changed hands as a handsome advance, and the remaining lots are being rapidly taken up by Los Angeles parties who know a good thing when they see it. They may the futures of Austenburg is very height. Events of the Week Gathered by "Manchester Repository." Tickets are out for a long-year hall. A few cases of small-pox are reported in Los Angeles. The reception at Los Angeles to Demonstrate Preference was a grand annual. Refreshing rains have been falling during the past ten days. The Prohibitionists of Santa Ana were their first once under the Sunday ordinance. William Fischer has received a much-of-cooperation at his shop on Lemon street. An auction sale of mules and horses took place at Mitchell's stable last day. The animals brought good prices. The Rev. J. E. Fincher of Providence R. Patton of Los Angeles has been appointed Register of the Land Office that city, vice Bethune, resigned. Mr. Patton was formerly editor of the Herald. The delinquent tax list will be published in the Los Angeles Herald on the first Monday in February. It will be a low list, as there are over five thousand assessments delinquent. Work on the Hotel del Campo still progresses. The late rains have somewhat inconveniently caused the mechanics engaged on th A very important factor appears in this late column in the fact that freight trains will be materially limited by having their goods our very doors. This alone will be a great advantage to our prosperous people. This fertile country demands just such a railway and the day is not far distant when two shall see ourselves ranked among the leading cities of commercial importance. Anahaim has an incomparable location for a city of note, and every advantage for that accomplishment is being vigorously executed. Railroads enter this town on every side, rendering transportation facilities excellent. There is not another town in the State possessing the resources which we can honestly claim; and these are but a few words of truly warning to purchasers. Times are changed and we will from now on see new schemes undertaken not thought of a few months back. Money invested in Anahaim property today is one of the best dispositions of one's wealth that the most exciting citizen could desire. The above line will be of vast importance to the residents of the town of Westminster and Garden Grove, which lay to the south of us. These prolific sections have no railway accommodations at present. This road will greatly advance their prospects. WARNER F. A.KENWA. Timely Warning to Fruit-brewers — temperate summer. This beautiful rain insures plenty of grass and good crops without irrigation, also an abundance of water for irrigation if wanted. The prospects are now for one of the most prosperous years that we have ever experienced. The extreme cold weather through which we have just passed left no trace of damage behind. About this season of the year the orange growers are receiving nicely worldly communications from Eastern commission honoring collecting assignments of fruit, promising big sales, large and prompt returns, and satisfying the growers in advance that Mr. Mendolf or Mr. somebody else—a smooth-tongued breeding agent—will soon call on you, and they bumble for him the conditions and penalties of the ordinance. "A bearer child dreads the firm." We would advise all growers to be aware of them tomorrow following." We know one grower of oranges who has tried them twice. He is extremely sensitive about his last year's shipments. From one list of 40 boxes of fine fruit as ever left this valley, he received $449, from Chicago, and at a time when the market was best; from a similar lot, lining twenty-six horses, sent to the San Francisco market, at a time of rains and cold weather, when there was not much demand for fruit, he received $100, making a difference of almost $600 in favor of them. Furthermore, the temptation is too great for those Chicago "fallers," and if you bring them with a car of fruits they distract the empires and expatriates of their traveling agents from the sale, and permit balance if there is anything left. We have one man who has a double-barrel shot gun already loaded for the first traveling agent from Chicago who presents himself. TOO MUCH BEWARE. AN INCREDIBLE VISIT TO THE MERCOPOLIS. About a week ago a couple of Anahaim's inhabitants went to Los Angeles to have a "time," and while there both imbibed a good deal of "day juice" in their rounds of the city. A few days was thus spent, and the two then wounded homeward, and nothing was thought to be wrong until one of the parties, whose name is I. Eupold Metzler, missed his watch. Mennon, T. B. Carzile and Jens Parker have returned from Yuma, where they want to run a preliminary survey from the Colorado river to the New river country. They report that they run a narrow six mile, and found over two feet fall to the mile with much less engineering difference than were anticipated. As soon as a few observations in the way of getting right of way are removed, the construction of the dish will be announced. The main dish will be list foot wide on the bottom, four or five feet deep, thirty miles long, and will breathe 400,000 tons of fresh land as it is found on the American continent. Real Happenings Concisely Compiled. The new hotel at Carlton is being pushed ahead rapidly, and will soon be ready for occupancy. Hedson Bron, the live Anaheim agent for that town, have all they can do in attending to their enormous business connected with that town. They report a very brief demand for property on all sides. A back building, placing milled and other improvements are things to be started in Carlton shortly. There are three or four families of Chicago people in Anaheim at present. These people have purchased some very choice property here and will build on their lots some fine residences for their own use. A man was charged with grand larceny at Santa Ana for the alleged theft of a shingle. Our shingle! Wonder what they would do with a fellow who should inadvertently carry off a toothpick! Miss Johanna Schulz of San Francisco respectfully informs the people of Anaheim that she will open a German class at Kroger's Hall, commencing next month. The hours will be from 10 to 12 o'clock a.m. on Saturdays. Fred Crist, our sure-fit merchant tailor, is kept busy now-a-days in filling orders for suits. Several owners of lots in the Loreal trust are going to build dwelling houses on them. WHOOP! Still Another Railroad For Anaheim. Four Mondays Amured. And More Incubating—We Will Noon Have a Complete Network of Railroad. NEW BUILDINGS. Theodore Reiser's New Operahouse. Name of the Architectural Improvement Commission to the Commissioned Mime Management. The contract for the construction of Mr. Theodore Reiser's apprehension on the power of Center and Olive streets is lot to Merritt. Charles Baldiller and H. P. Larsen, the former gentleman constructing the brick foundation and the latter gentleman the woodwork. Work is to be commenced on the building immediately. This structure will be a dwell improvement to our town. The upper story will be fitted up in the most approved style, containing the latest appearances which are necessary in a building of that pattern. Large and convenient apartments for stores, etc., will comprise the lower story, which we understand are already engaged for occupancy. Cement walks are to be laid on Center street from its front of the building to the center of town, thus affording city conveniences. Mr. Reiser is alert to our interests and the construction of this block will be warmly appreciated by our people. We hear it expressed that other buildings are to be erected on Center street in the neighborhood of the above building, all of which are contemplations of our townsmen. The late purchase of Mr. Alexander Henry on the corner of Los Angeles and Center streets is to be graced with a two-story brick building. It will cover the entire lot, which is 90x120 feet. This is commendable enterprise on the part of our popular citizen and every success is extended him in his forethought in this public improvement. Mr. Henry's late purchase is one of the best sites in town for a building such as he intends erecting, and the stately edifice is earnestly looked for. It will thus be seen that the building boom in Anaheim is pretty well established, as the above-structures are foregone conclusions. Times have changed, and we are now in the line of the boom! Still Another Railroad For Anaheim. Four Months Amured. And More Incubating—We Will Soon Have a Complete Network of Railroad. As will be seen from a few extracts taken from the Santa Ana papers, Anaheim is to be the starting point of a new railroad which will be a very convenient line of transportation. We have made inquiries among our most reliable citizens and found that the building of the road is a settled fact. With this road in operation, Anaheim will have a complete network of railroads, and thus equipped we will be placed in a very flattering state. Who would have thought of all these improvements but a few short months ago? These are truly bouncing times. The Santa Ana Herald says: Mr. Griffith, on charge of a party of Southern Pacific surveyors, has already begun the survey of a new line of road, which is to be constructed within sixy days, according to instructions from F. S. Duaty, secretary of the Pacific Improvement Company, and audited by Charles Crocker. The new line is to start from Anaheim, closely hugging the footrail, passing directly through the town of McPherson, the ranches of the Measra, D. Hewes and W. S. Bartlett, and in front of Mr. Howes hotel site; thence on to Tustin and Santa Ana. It will be an accommodation line, and can be flagged for passengers anywhere on the route. The people of Tustin have appointed a committee to secure the right of way, which has clearly all been obtained. The road will run southeast of Modena. It is quite evident that the Southern Pacific is about to give the Atchison a lively tussle for the business of this section. It is not known whether the new road is to be pushed on across the San Joaquin and to San Diego, Mr. Griffith's instruction contemplating only the laying out of the road to Tustin. It is undoubtedly the intention of the Southern Pacific to push for San Diego, and it will make lively work when it gets a good ready. Speaking of the same enterprise, the Santa Ana Standard says: A gentleman from Earlham informs us that the Southern Pacific Railroad Company have the stakes set from Anaheim to Earlham, for the branch road, and work is going ahead at a rate that will make the A., T. & S. P. Co. ashamed of themselves. The S. P. will survey a route through Colton and build it speedily. Two tunnels will have to be excavated. Another Bridge Wanted. Louis Schorn of Anaheim sent the following communication to the Los Angeles Herald for publication: Editor Herald!—Since you put in a good word for old Anaheim as regards the modest request for a bridge over the wash north of town I would beg of you to do the same also for one over the Santa Ana river at of the oldest colony, leading to Clive, and in fact the main, oldest and much-travelled road to River-sile, San Bornadino and other points. This is not only a heavy, easily road for a few miles, but the river is hardly passable on account of the deep sand when there is no water, and in time of water this steam is not passable for weeks and months and is dangerous to life and property. A very strong petition from taxpayers on both sides was handed to the honorable Supervisors three or four years ago, but not acted on—reason, no funds on hand for it. I think, with thousands of others, that with the heavy taxes just collected, there should be plenty of funds to build this bridge at once, and thereby gladden the hearts of long neglected community. Years very respectfully. MAXWELL MUST-HANG. The Supreme Court of the United States Decided Against Min.
