From Saturday's Daily, —Mr. Louis Lewin of Los Angeles was in town yesterday. —Col. E. J. C. Kewen is prostrated with a paralytic stroke. —Ed. Mateer is rusticating at Los Robles cafion, and is recovering his health. —Work is still going on at the fruit drying establishment. The apparatus for drying will probably arrive by train to-night. —Mr. L. Parker has just completed a brick drying establishment for the purpose of drying grapes. The dried grapes exhibited last year by Mr. Parker were equal to any we have ever seen. —We were shown yesterday some plendid samples of broom corn raised on R. Parker's farm, near town. There are about three acres of the corn growing, and the stalks will average twelve feet in height. —Some of our orchardists have been very much troubled lately by boys who break down the limbs of the trees and steal the ripe fruit. A gentleman of our acquaintance set a large trap under one of his trees, the other night and in the morning found a boot-heel fast in it. He says that the owner of the heel can have it by applying to him, proving property and paying charges. —Mr. D. K. Williams had the misfortune to break his arm yesterday afternoon. He was endeavoring to adjust some machinery at the planing mill at A. Guy Smith & Co's lumber yard, when the belt caught his arm and carrying it on to the wheel, caused a compound fracture. He was immediately taken to Dr. James Ellis, who promptly set the bones and did everything to render his patient comfortable. Mr. D. K. The Centennial Entertainment at Kroeger's Hall on Thursday evening attracted quite a number from all sections. Orange, Tustin and Westminster lent their talent to make it a success, and we believe the managers of the affair were quite satisfied. The portrait gallery by the Westminster Quil Vive was novel and interesting. The singing was excellent, and the recitations by Misses Lockhart and Harris and Mr. Wright were listened to with great pleasure by the audience. An injunction has been issued out of the 17th District Court, Judge Sepulveda, on behalf of the Council, restraining Recorder Miles from placing on record a patent for the Pueblo of Los Angeles, dated 1875, filed with him for that purpose without authority. The object of the Council is to secure the original patent, dated in August, 1888, a certified copy of which is now in the hands of the attorneys of the Council, and which is considered in all respects a valid instrument and the only one conveying proper title to the lands now in question. The hearing on the restraining writ is set for Monday, the seventh day of August. Should the writ be sustained and the original patent obtained, a great deal of annoying litigation will be avoided, being barred by the statute of limitation. YOUNG MEN Who may be suffering from the effect of youthful follicles or indigestion, will do well to avail themselves of this, the greatest boon ever laid at the altar of suffering humanity. Dr. SPINNEY will guarantee to forfeit $500 for every case of seminal weakness, or private disease of any kind or character which he undertakes and fails to cure. He would therefore say to the unfortunate sufferer who may read this notice, that you are treading upon dangerous ground when you longer delay in seeking the proper remedy for your complaint. You may be in the first stage; remember you are apprising the last. If you are bordering upon the last, and are suffering some or all of its ill effects, remember that if you persist in procrastination, the time must come when the most skillful physician can render you no assistance; when the door of hope will be closed against you, when no angel of mercy can bring you relief. In no case has the Doctor failed of success. Then let not despair work upon your imagination, but avail yourself of the beneficial results of his treatment before your case is beyond the reach of medical skill, or before grim death hurries you to a premature grave.
