H. L. St. John and wife arrived from San Francisco last evening.
Mr. Frank Lafancheri arrived last night on the train.
It is rumored that two trains a day will be the next change in the railroad programme.
A large number of passengers for Anheim and Orange arrived on the train last night.
Messrs. Cahen & Willard open today with an elegant display of new goods.
We understand that Col. W. S. Davis and Mr. Holman came down on the Orizaba from San Francisco.
Davis & Bro. are to the fore today with a new ad, which will repay perusal.
We direct attention to the law advertisement of Davia & Lynill, which appears to-day. We predict for the new firm a successful business career.
The store building of Mr. A. Langenberger, on the corner of Lemon and Centre streets, is about to receive a coat of paint that will add greatly to its beauty.
Mr. St. John, of the Planters' Hotel, purchased a new billiard table while in San Francisco. An elegant coach is also en route to this city for the use of the hotel.
Messrs. Miles, Olden, Langenberger, and Flacher visited the ditches of Water Districts 1 and 2, yesterday, and found everything in a prosperous condition.
Mrs. Wilson, of Los Angeles whose attempt at suicide we mentioned yesterday, has since died.
There was considerable excitement last night about a man between the counties of the two hotels.
A large number of freight cars from various stations on the road were brought down by last night's train.
Theo Reiser Esq. has received his commission as Inspector of the 22th Masonic District, comprising the counties of Los Angeles and San Bernardino.
Postmaster Higgins has received official information that the time of the arrival of mail from Los Angeles will be changed to 10 or 10:15 A.M. It generally understood that the change will take place the early part of next week.
There will be no lack of festivities next week. The Episcopalians have a Fair and Christmas Tree at Enterprise Hall; the Presbyterian Sunday School have a Tree at the church; a Tree will also be hoisted at the depot, and a party will be given at Fairview.
The exports from the depot this morning were as follow: 10 sacks potatoes, 1 cask brandy, 4 bundles sheep pelts, 7 dry hides, 3 empty kegs, 62 sacks barley, 2 cases honey, 1 case tobacco, 85 sacks corn, 1 empty gasoline tank.
Mr. L. Roland, of Los Angeles, a member of the Confidence Coal Mining Company, returned from the mine in Santiago Caifon last night. He reports that the tunnel, now being made by that company, has already penetrated a depth of sixty-five feet, with flattering prospects. Six men are constantly employed at the work.
Messrs. Joaquin N. Martinez and Jose Moraga have gone through this city on their return from Lower California, where they assume to have a mine that is worth more than all the treasures which Edmond Dantes was reported to have discovered in the Island of Monte Cristo—Express.

The following patents, received yesterday at the U. S. Land Office, await owners: Wm. B. Cox, James H. Tibbit, Joshua W. Smart, Frank H. Clark, Jonathan Tibbit, James R. Glover; Wni. B. Lee, James E. Squires, Mary Newman.
The Express says that the Callente stage robber was captured at Bakersfield by Detective Hume and his companion, on Thursday. Thirteen hundred dollars of the four thousand obtained by him from the second robbery were found on his person.
A Mrs. Wilson, now of Los Angeles, but formerly of Sonoma county, attempted to commit suicide on Saturday, but was unsuccessful. Depression of spirits caused by the loss of her two children, was the cause of the act.
A new post-office has been established at Norwalk Station, between this place and Downey, to be called Corvallas. Byron Chapman has been appointed Postmaster. The office will be opened as soon as the necessary filanks, etc., arrive from Wasilington City.
We are called upon to explain and therefore humbly beg to state that Mr. Tyler, the urbane agent at the depot, is not the same thief that skole Mitchell's team a couple days ago. Mitchell recovered his property—a buggy and pair of horses. If a stage coach and six horses had been missing—but we trust our apology will be considered ample, and further comment unnecessary.
The following shipments were made from the depot this morning: 1 cask wine, 60 gallons; 3 barrel wine, 17 gallons; 4 barrel wine, 24 gallons; 34 sacks castor beans, 2,682 lbs; 5 sacks pop corn, 700 lbs; 51 sacks castor beans, 4,115 lbs; 27 sacks castor beans, 2,314 lbs; 2 pipes wine, 266 gallons; 4 pipes wine, 591 gallons.

There was filed in the office of the Secretary of State on Saturday articles of incorporation of the Deutsche Allgemeine Unterstützung Gesellschaft of Los Angeles—organized for the purpose of founding hospitals and infirmaries and taking care of the sick. It has no capital stock.

Los Angeles has a big water-melon on exhibition at Thom & Roes Office. It was raised by R.H.Capman.
Mossman has just received two hundred pounds of his celebrated San Francisco sausages.
Mr. Arthur Heimann has sold his interest in the Planters' Hotel to Charles E.Mjnor.
Mr.W.S.Wright,of the firm of J.W.Clark & Co.,leaves for San Francisco to-day.
The old land marks of Anaheim are rapidly disappearing.The aycomore trees near Calisher's store.on Centre street.were removed yesterday.
The Captain of the schooner Concordia,now lying at Wilmingtonwas in town yesterday,and endeavoring to procure a cargo of grain for San Francisco.The Concordia brought down lumber for the Western Development Company.
An election will be held in Spring School District (Santa Clara).

Dr. Ellis of the Anaheim Hotel is about to leave town to practice his profession at San Fernando.
Mr. Lake, one of the men who arrested the murderer of Coffey in Lower California, was in town yesterday.
Monsura Starbuck & Butler have just sold to Col. Bialsdell, of Minnesota, the ranch owned by Judge Thompson, for $17,000. The property is on the Anaheim road and contains 700 acres.
The Los Angeles Bar Association have elected the following officers: President Hon. John R. McConnell; Vice-President R. G. Whiting and Gen. Smith; Secretary F. H. Howard; Treasurer S.C. Oranges are already being shipped from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
A malignant fever of the typhoid type is raging among the Tejon snail Indians.

An election will be held in Spring School District (Santa Ana) on January 10th, for the purpose of voting on the question of levying a tax of $5,000 to build two school houses. Fairview District will also hold an election on January 8th, for the purpose of voting a tax of $4,000, to build a Grammar School House.
John Bush will persist in having the most prolific trees and shrubs on his manch at Upper Santa Ana, ever known in any civilized community. Yesterday, he brought us in a fine sized apple, the second growth this year from one of his apple trees.

An extremely original and successful mode of getting a drink was practiced on one of our saloon keepers yesterday. A noted tramp rushed into the saloon and told the barkeeper that a gentleman was dying with a fit in the street outside. The generous hearted saloon keeper quickly filled a flask with the best Otard, and bade the man to hurry to the sufferer. The man rushed hastily out, and the barkeeper shortly followed, but could find no trace of the man with the fit or the man with the bottle.

"The case of Bohn vs. Davis and Plate came up before Justice Bailey again yesterday. Motion was made that the judgment be rendered on the verdict, which was overruled.
Bohn, discouraged with the poor sale for crayfish, allowed his hope to run away and distribute the crayfish in accordance with his own sweet will. An untimely collision with a telegraph pole on Los Angeles street put a stop to the distributing game so far as the crayfish were concerned, so the gallant steel commenced on the harbor, at which he was mercenary beautifully when he was captured by a paladin, who demanded five dollars to return him to the disconsolate Bohn. Bohn could not see the point and a bolterous altercation ensued, which was ended by Bohn leaving the home in the possession of the captor, and threatening to commence suit for the sands before the court to-day.

Allis preached to a large congregation on last Sabbath. Several young Orangites are matrimonially inclined. A boot black in Orange would be discouraged at this weather. Friend Meyers left for Elizabeth Lake yesterday to take charge of a school. It is reported that our depot will be built and completed within three months. We have seen cards printed at the GAZETTE office that are perfect models of neatness. The saloon in Orange was open just ten minutes. The saloon man has not been heard from—he left here between two suns. Mr. Furlong dismissed school on account of the weather.
The Fair, to increase the funds for building an Episcopal Church, will take place on Thursday evening, December 23d. The supper will commence at 5 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m."

Order to show cause why order of sale of Real Estate should not be made.
It appearing to the said Court by the Petition this day presented and filed by Leonas Arnold, the administrator of the old estate, praying for an order of sale of Real Estate that is in necessity to sell the whole of the Real Estate to get the allowance to the family, the debt outstanding against demand, and the debts expensed and charges of administration.
It is therefore ordered by the said Probate Court that all persons intrapatient in the state of mild demand appear before the said Probate Court on Monday, the 17th day of January, A.D. 1876, as 10 o'clock, A.M. of said day, at the Court Room of said Court, at the city and county of Los Angeles, to show cause why an order should not be granted to the said administrator in sell of much of the Real Estate of the said demand in shall be necessary, and that a copy of this order be published at least from announcements made in the Anaheim Gazette a newspaper printed and published in still county of Los Angeles.

School District Election Notice.
NOTICE is hereby given to the qualified electors of Southern District of Los Angeles county but no election will be held at Public School House in full dress on Monday, January 19th, 1876. The question of voting is to be handled by school board members who will be maintained in office by ten members until such time as there are vacant positions on the school board.Amts and men in the southern area of Los Angeles will be given equal opportunity to vote.

Order to show cause why order of sale of Real Estate should not be made.
It appearing to the said Court by the Petition this day presented and filed by Leonas Arnold, the administrator of the old estate, praying for an order of sale of Real Estate that is in necessity to sell the whole of the Real Estate to get the allowance to the family, the debise outstanding against demand,and the debise expenses and charges of administration.
It is therefore ordered by the said Probate Court that all persons intrapatient in the state of mild demand appear before the said Probate Court on Monday, the 17th day of January, A.D. 1876, as 10 o'clock,A.M. of said day, at the Court Room of said Court, at the city and county of Los Angeles, to show cause why an order should not be granted to the said administrator in sell of much of the Real Estate of the said demand in shall be necessary,and that a copy of this order be published at least from announcements made in the Anaheim Gazette a newspaper printed and published in still county of Los Angeles.

New year Medical officer of St. Panama's Worldwide Infirmary with 400 beds—20 beds for Consumptive cases. St. Panama's Parish in London, contains a population of 400,000 souls.
Thirteen months travelling physician in the family of an English Pier.
In 1871 took 967 souls from London to New Zealand in the shipment Atrio, for the New Zealand Government, and was admitted a member of the Medical Faculty of Melbourne.
Doctor Ellis having had great experiences in London in diseases of the chest, and having observed the successful treatment of each case in Egypt and Italy, will shortly establish A Cottage Hospital for the relief or cure of such cases.
