The place to get your Christmas presents is at the store of C. H. Bush, on Main street, Los Angeles. Sin Loy and Soon Kee had a slight alteration a few days ago, which threatened at one time to prove most disastrous to the peace of mind of the last named Celestial, and to his physical comfort as well, for he was compelled to spend one very cool night in the uncomfortable recesses of the Anaheim jail. However, when the matter was inquired into the next day by his Honor the Judge, Sin Loy found to his chagrin that, although his unfortunate opponent had earned the title of the child of misfortune, he could lay Just claim to the sorrowful distinction of being another victim to misplaced confidence.

ANAHEIM LIGHTER COMPANY. At the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Anaheim Lighter Company, held on Monday, the following named gentlemen were elected to serve as a Board of Trustees for the ensuing year: A. Langenberger, John P. Zeyn, Fred. A. Korn, H. Werder, and C. Lorenz. The agent Jas. D. Ott, presented the following statement of imports and exports, received and forwarded during the year, ending November 30th, 1874: inward freights—3108 tons of general merchandise, 402 barrels of lime, and 1,035,843 feet of lumber; outward freights—18,979 sacks corn, 26,745 sacks barley, 25,091 sacks rye, 36 sacks nuts, 2,223 sacks beans, 320 sacks mustard seed, 2,961 sacks castor beans. 20 bales hops, 35 sacks pop-corn, 427 sacks wheat, 40 sacks potatoes, 65 bundles pelts, 915 dry hides, 448 boxes eggs, 4,796 bales wool, 494 boxes merchandise, 957 pipes wine, 65 barrels wine, 120 barrels brandy, 7 pipes vinegar. The total amount of freight received and forwarded during the year, 11,682 tons.
ANOTHER DITCH. We have been informed that it is in contemplation by the farmers, living on the uplands to the North-east of Anaheim, to construct a ditch upon the line of survey, which was made about a year ago by the Los Angeles Land Company. The ditch, proposed to be built by them, will not assume the mammoth proportions of the canal originally projected, but it will be of sample size to furnish all the water needed for irrigating purposes outside of La Habra rancho. The farmers, out there, have come to the conclusion that if they get water it will be through their own individual exertions, and consequently are agitating the subject with good prospect of accomplishing some actual work.
WESTMINSTER COLONY. The tract of land, bearing the above title, and consisting originally of a little more than six thousand acres, has been almost entirely disposed of to actual settlers; and, as the demand for homes in that locality still continues unabated, the Los Angeles Land Company have placed, at the disposal of Rev. Robt. Strong, superintendent of the colony, an additional tract of three thousand acres. The land, thus added consists of two sections on the

"Oh! had I some nice little pants of my own, instead of those on me—all tattered and torn. Some new ones, fixed up with Singer-made stitches, and not, like the rest, made from father's old breeches!" Thus sang a pensive, sad-eyed boy, and in his mother's eyes gazed sadly; and her fond heart could not refuse the garment he required so badly. In boyish haste he drags her off, ere her good resolutions fall her, and stopped on Centre Street before the shop of Mendelson, the tailor. Once there, my tale is quickly told; It of necessity follers that mamma had to pangle out some 25 or 30 $. (Note by the author.) It must be understood that the price here given must be taken aguratirely. The necessities of rhyme compelled me to make a large advance on the ruling rates, as an elegant suit of clothes can be had for those figures at the "Merchants' Tailoring Emporium."
ARTESIAN PIPING. We would call the attention of the farming community to the advertisement of H. D. Barrows & Co., of Los Angeles, who keep constantly on hand a complete stock of farming implements of all kinds, and of the latest improved style and manufacture. And besides we would make mention of the fact that this firm devote themselves especially to the manufacture of artesian well piping. Being the only establishment in Los Angeles, which possesses the proper machinery for this purpose, they are the only ones who sell piping at first hands.
ABOUT THE RAILROAD. Since the arrival of the long-delayed bridge material for the Anaheim Branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad, the work of construction has been most actively pushed forward. The bridge builders will have completed to-day the trestle-work, spanning Los Coyotes creek, and the track-layers have finished laying the rails to within two miles of that point. By to-night the terminus of the completed road will be within less than eight miles of Anaheim, and every exertion is being used to have the road completed to this place on or before Christmas Day.
EPISCOPAL CHURCH FAIR.—On the evening of December 16th, the people of Anaheim and surrounding country will assemble at Enterprise Hall for the double purpose of enjoying themselves and helping to swell the fund for the erection of an Episcopal church. The preparations have been going on for several months, of course under the supervision of the ladies of the congregation, and many new features will be introduced which will be an innovation on the usual mode of conducting church fairs. An extensive art gallery will be arranged, to which the particular attention of all lovers of the beautiful is especially drawn. To such, the artistic groupings of the several representations can not fail to be a source of great pleasure. At the different tables will be found many useful and ornamental articles offered for sale; and the near approach of the Christmas holidays will no doubt induce many persons to invest in the purchase of articles suitable for presents. The Fair will open at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, and an elegant supper—turkey, chicken, plesand cake ad lib—will be served between the hours of 5 and 9 P.M., thus affording an opportunity for visitors from a distance to partake of a substantial repast. The price of admission has been placed at the low figure of twenty-five cents for adults, and ten cents for children under 12 years of age. Supper fifty cents extra. Tickets can be had at all the principal stores of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Richland and Westminster. We are requested to state that those persons who have contributed towards the supper will please send their donations to Enterprise Hall on Wednesday between the hours of 9 A. M. and 12 M.
