Following the example of Santa Barbara, its people are beginning to recognize this great and important fact, viz., that in order to build up a town rapidly and have it grow in insurance we must support liberal encouragement in every manner our local papers. It was alone in this way that Santa Barbara has been made to almost double its population and wealth in four years. The enterprising people of that place, with willing hearts and liberal hands, went to work and subscribed for hundreds of copies of the Press and Times, and spread them broadcast through eastern cities and towns. Santa Barbara today is one of the prospering towns of California. The Anaheim people are taking a wise step, imitating Santa Barbara. We see in a recent number of the Southern Californian, published at that place that one firm there has subscribed for one hundred copies of the paper to send east. It is a wise and politic move on the part of the citizens of that place. What are our liberal and enterprising people doing to encourage emigration to our town and valley, by making known the great advantages we possess in almost every branch of industry? Let them do as Santa Barbara has done; as Anaheim is now doing; take a lesson from them, and profit by the example.—San Bernardino Guardian.
