INDIAN ATTRAY.—Two Indians named Vicente Valdeso and Maria Pilla, were stabbed seriously, and it is thought fatally, by another Indian named Jose Maria on Sunday afternoon, 24 inst, at the rancheria near Pedro Lopez's, at the south-west corner of town. Jose Maria was immediately afterward discovered leaving town in company with another Indian, Jesus Perez, and, strong suspicions resting on the latter, both were arrested. Not sufficient evidence was however adduced to hold Perez and he was accordingly discharged but proof against Maria was very direct and he was committed and sent to Los Angeles on Tuesday, 26th, on a charge of assault with intent to commit murder. The wounds of Valdeso are such that it is feared he will not survive. It is said that Valdeso is the same Indian who, it is believed, killed the young German, Frederick Rupp, and if this be the case it is a matter of poetical justice that the Indian is now lying at the point of death in the same hut and in the same bunk where his victim died over a year ago.

THE NEW BAKERY. — Messrs. Hille & Menzel had a general house warming Wednesday evening last, on the occasion of the first baking of bread in their fine new oven which has just been completed, on Center street. A large party of their friends and the public generally responded to an invitation to partake of good cheer, and the Anaheim Band enlivened the occasion with music. The new oven is ten by eleven feet on the inside, and contains 22,000 brick. It has cost over $600 and reflects much credit upon the enterprise of Messrs H. & M., who determined to keep pace with the growing wants of our thriving town.
CIRCUS TUESDAY NIGHT. — We are happy to announce that the magnificent New York Mammoth Circus, which gave such an excellent performance here in November last, is coming back after a long and successful trip through Mexico and the Sandwich Islands and will be with us again no Tuesday evening. The company gained unbounded popularity in its former visit and will be sure to have a full house whenever it comes again. It is one of the very few companies, which does all that it promises to, and leaves behind it no victimized impressions among those who have patronized it.
EARTHQUAKE — Quite a smart shock of an earthquake roused us from our slumbers at 25 minutes before 8 o'clock Tuesday morning last. The building shook violently, and we got out of bed as quick as we could, to see how much Prof. Dean would charge us to let the entire Southern California establishment drop through the floor into his barber-shop, but the danger E Bryan, Wm J Ramage, Mrs Morris and daughter, James A Conder, Thos King, Anaheim; W L Asbrill, Geo Roberts, San Bernardino; J D Ott, Jacob Westerling, Ben Wilson, Robt N White, L E Smith, W Smyth, An. GENERAL ROW. — Quite a row was created here last Sunday evening by a drunken man named James Calhoun, who had on the day previous, filled himself with fighting whisky and had only partially slept off its effects. He went in for a free fight with everybody and came out well whipped, as he deserved. A pistol shot was fired into the ground by one of the parties, for the purpose of frightening him, but no damage was done by it. Tom Canavon carried off all the laurels, having most effectually curried the belligerent into submission.

EARTHQUAKE — Quite a smart shock of an earthquake roused us from our slumbers at 25 minutes before 3 o'clock Tuesday morning last. The building shook violently, and we got out of bed as quick as we could, to see how much Prof. Dean would charge us to let the entire Southern Californian establishment drop through the floor into his barber-shop, but the danger was all over before we could get down stairs.
FIXING UP.—C. D'Assonville & Co.'s elegant little drug store has been still further improved by the addition of show windows, and colored bottles placed therein which shine in the evening with a decidedly city-like glow. Some very fine paint work has been added to the establishment, which it is almost needless to say was executed by those artistic workmen, the Payne Brothers.
A CORRECTION.—We are informed by our fellow citizen, Mr. Philip Hammes, that we were in error in publishing his name in our Anaheim Business Directory simply as a Piano Tuner. Mr. H. is a first-class watch and chronometer-maker and will attend to all repairing in that line at reasonable prices. See advertisement.
Moody Acquitted.—Dan Moody formerly of Anaheim and a Mr. Celis, who have been held on a charge of complicity in the great Los Angeles riot, were acquitted by the Jury on Tuesday last. Seven others were convicted of manalaughter, viz. Mendell, McDonald, Austin, Martines, Alvarado, Botillo and Johnson.
For the information of our readers we publish elsewhere in full the act recently passed for the purpose of disincorporating this city. There are many points in it which are regarded by good lawyers as unconstitutional and illegal, and may prove strong enough to invalidate the whole act when brought to the test of a Judicial decision. In the meantime the City of Anaheim still lives, and the city government will go on as usual until the question is fairly decided.
THE SALE AT GALLATIN.—We are happy to learn that Mr. McGarvin's sale of lots at Gallatin on Thursday last was a success, as also the ball in the evening. The sales footed up $947 50, and Mr. McG. advises us that he will hold another sale on the 11th of April. This indicates a very healthy demand for real estate in that prosion or us town.
PICNIC AT THE LANDING.—Attention is called to the announcement of Messrs. Evers & Reickman, at the Landing, who have made arrangements for the accommodation of all who may desire a day's enjoyment by the sea-side.
THE CIRCUS — Tuesday evening next will be held on the lot opposite the Anaheim Hotel and a fine lunch and refreshments will be provided at the bar of the hotel on that evening.
ANOTHER WEEKLY.—The Evening Express announces that it will issue a weekly edition on and after April 4th.
SAN FRANCISCO LETTER.—A lengthy and interesting letter from our San Francisco correspondent is received too late for insertion this week.
NEW HOUSE—Mr. S. Randall has just begun the erection of a fine new dwelling, 24 x 32, on Lemon street opposite Maj. Strobel's residence.
PERSONAL—Don Juan Ferster passed through yesterday, on his way home.
RAIN.—A little rain fell Wednesday day night, not enough to measure.
APRIL TIME TABLE—Of the N. P. T. Co.'s stirs will be found elsewhere.

EDITOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIAN: Pardon our temerity and allow us if you please, a place in your paper for the following explanation:
Owing to the fact that an accusation against us, that we are working for nothing, has been loudly given to every breeze by sore and dissatisfied heads, we feel it our duty to state through your paper, to mechanics not of our trade, and the public generally that, if there is any man for whom we have a most supreme contempt, it is the mechanic who would be guilty of such an act. satisfied heads, we feel it our duty to state through your paper, to mechanics not of our trade, and the public generally that, if there is any man for whom we have a most supreme contempt, it is the mechanic who would be guilty of such an act. But, while we deny the assertion in toto, and fearlessly state that we have, on every job of painting that we have done in Anaheim, made from $4 per day upwards, we acknowledge with pride that our charges, on all of our work, has been from twenty-five to fifty percent less than that of any other of our trade.
But there is a sequel to all this—we understand our business, can do a day's work, and do it.

It is said that if a puff of air were to be blown into a vein of an animal, death would instantaneously follow, because circulation would be stopped. The blood makes the entire circuit of the human body every seven minutes, and whenever this circulation is impeded, or any of its channels are clogged by impurities which ought to be carried off, disease follows—fever, or a disorder of liver or kidneys, or scrofa, or dyspepsia. To get at and remove the source of the difficulty, use the old and infallible blood purifier, Dr. Walker’s California Vinegar Bitters.
