Railroad
The San Bernardino Guardian favors the construction of a railroad Aquila hein to that place, from Los Angeles. It is probable that a railroad with the built within two years from San Diego to San Bernardino takes one from Los Angeles, Warnington or Anaheim gets the start of it. It would be of momentary value together or all of the three latter points to have a road to connect us with San Bernardino county, and thereby bring their trade and that of a vast country beyond it to our own local seas ports. There is business there for some shipping point, and if Los Angeles county fails to secure it San Diego will most certainly bid high for it soon, having already made the preliminary survey for a narrow gauge route. Now is the time if ever for us to do something in this matter. San Bernardino, as shown by the article in the Guardian, is most favorably disposed to our route, to one particularly through Anaheim, and we can help a little to forward the enterprise and meet our friends halfway in a work that we need as much as they. Anaheim needs a railroad; the best time to build it is when somebody is willing to help us. Let a meeting be called and a committee appointed to confer with one from San Bernardino and see if the project could not be put into some practicable shape.

The Dedication.
Saturday 231 inst was a holiday at Tustin City. The occasion was the dedication of the elegant little school house at that place which has already been fully described in the Gazette. A large company of people were present, happy, smiling and good humored. The ladies were lovely, the gentlemen gallant and the babies models of propriety. We have solemnly enjoyed ourselves well and the day is one which all concerned will long remember with pleasure. The building was named to overflowing and many avail'd themselves of standing privileges outside. Mr. Crowell of Santa Ana was installed as master of Ceremonies and discharged the duties of the position with eminent success. The exercises commenced about half-past eleven A.M., with a greeting song, finely rendered by a full choir, consisting of the Misses Tustin, Mrs Porter, Miss.-and Messrs James Bradford and E. R. Nichols. The dedicatory address was then delivered, and was followed by a piano solo "Hail Columbia" played by Miss Martha Tustin. After another song, Supt. W. M. McFadden appeared upon the scene having like the "Babes in the woods" been lost, but happily found Himself in time to make a pleasant little address pertinent to the occasion. After other songs and instrumental pieces, a few remarks from Mr. Crowell and an exceedingly courteous and kindly vote of thanks to the Orator of the day, and Mr. McFadden, the assembly vacated the building and went outside under the shady trees to enjoy the picnic part of the programme, the lunch. This was ample and good, and was long and fondly praised.
The people of Nebraska adored the proposed new statue providing among other women suffrage and compaction.

This was ample and good, and was long and fondly dwelt upon. About five o'clock the company dispersed happy and content to their several homes.
Opposition: From the Star's report of mingeting of the business men of Los Angeles we extract the following: Messrs. Jones, Childs, and Barrows were appointed a committee to open a correspondence with the P.M.S.S Company, and Messrs. Goodall & Nelson, on the subject of freight between this place and San Francisco".
Some Corn — The Southport (Connecticut) Chronicle notices a hill of corn over 13 feet in height and otherwise proportionately large. That is a good kill of corn for an eastern state, but the chronic man would open his eyes still wider could he see a corn-field in Los Angeles county California where we have the honor to abide. The seed of the hill the Chronicle mentions was procured by ourselves at the farm of Mr. McEirath, Los Nietos, and sent east by a lady friend. It is called Texas Corn and this as well as other varieties grows here to the height of 23 feet and yielded last year 140 bushels per acre.
The British iron clipper ship Talavera went ashore at San Ramon Bay Lower California, on the 11th inst.
