That Bet.—We have awaited patiently the performance of the conditions of the wager mentioned last week, in hopes of securing a fat item therefrom, but as yet have been disappointed. The history of the growth of the United States is very curious: years ago not a pound of fine wood raised in the United States, in Britain or in any country except in the latter country the flocks owned exclusively by the nobility grown. The County Vote.
Our limited space will not allow us to present the County vote in full. Following are the principal majorities: Haight 656, Rowland 696, Potts 1019, Thom 1095; the other democratic nominees ranging near there. The vote for Assemblyman was Matt 1045; Ellis 2084; Huey 1510; Evey 1277. The Supervisors elected are Forsman, Machado and Palomares. Democratic Caswell and Bush, Republican. Fursman was elected by a majority of one and Bush had a majority of forty over Russell. Entire vote polled 3498.
In the state the Republican ticket is elected 6000 majority or over. Boughton is the Congressman from this District.
The Reason Why.
A prominent Republic at Los Angeles has been cudging his brains to account for the Democratic majority at Anaheim. He thinks he has struck it at last however in the conclusion that it was because we had either too many Democratic or too few Republican voters.
