SATURDAY, MAY 13, 1871.
Once More.
During the past week, several other names have been erased from a paper alluded to in our last issue. We do not deem it essential to make public the names of those who have done so, as the object of the erasures is not for that purpose. Several names yet remain, the owners of which we are certain are friends of ours, and it is hoped that;—with the opportunity of one more week which we now offer—they at least will disappear.
Our Los Angeles Friends.
It is grateful to one, who was lately made the special object of attack by certain parties, because he would not swerve from an independent and untrammeled course, to know that his position is approved and sustained by the mass of the people of this county, and particularly by those of his fellow citizens at Los Angeles, who, from an unbiased stand-point, can look over the whole field, and judge correctly. We have just returned from a visit of several days at Los Angeles, and our very soul is refreshed by the kind greetings and receptions, bordering on a perfect ovation, during our stay among our numerous friends in that city. We confess ourselves grateful for these many marks of esteem—and hope to long preserve the feelings engendered.

RAILROAD.—The Union of yesterday said that the regular month San Diego and Los Angeles Company is announced the office of the Company 11th instant, at 3 p.m.
The Land Company.
Notice the announcement of Alfred Robinson of San Francisco, Trustee of the Los Angeles and San Bernardino Land Company. It is well known that Mr. Robinson is favorably disposed toward the settlers on the ranches; and did the Company but take his advice as to prices and sales, the Valley of Anaheim would soon be settled. We understand that these lands cost the Company a mere pittance per acre, say $1.75; and we all know that it alternate sections were sold at $10 per acre, the country would soon settle up; the Company would make a fair profit on present sales, and have a larger one on those of the future. If a bad policy in the sale of these lands is pursued, it affects the prosperity of Anaheim, and it is well known that if Anaheim Prosper, it also benefits the Land Company. One is not wholly independent of the other. Anaheim is largely interested in the settlement of the Ranches, and why should not the Land Company manifest an interest in us, and work with us for the settlement and development of the country? Why should not some one be appointed at Anaheim—the center of the ranches—to attend to the sales of lands, and give information concerning them to new comers, who are constantly making vain inquiries? Tell us, ye powers that be.
Horses for the East. —Mr. Geo. R.
and work with us for the settlement and development of the country? Why should not some one be appointed at Anaheim—the center of the ranches—to attend to the sales of lands, and give information concerning them to new comers, who are constantly making vain inquiries? Tell us, ye powers that be.
Horses for the East.—Mr. Geo. R. Butler, has just started a large band of his horses through to the Eastern States for sale. Mr. E. N. McDonald, Mr. Cusenbery and Mr. Randall of Wilmington have already forwarded several thousand head. A thousand head were lately started towards Missouri, from off the Laguna ranch.

A Strike.—The laborers employed by the Anaheim Lighter Company, lately became dissatisfied, and struck for privileges. Mr. R. N. White, the Agent, promptly paid off the last one of them, and by a rapid flank movement had a full force of new hands for duty, the next day. One of the privileges demanded, was that of getting drunk while at work; and Mr. White dont sabe that.

Communication.
ANAHEIM, May 9, 1871.
EDITOR ANAHEIM GAZETTE:—Unaware of the motives of the instigator of the remonstrances (wrongfully published in Los Angeles News) I had simply believe that those remonstrances were to be presented to you as a stimulating agent toward a more full representation to the world through the medium of your paper, of the resources of this truly terrestrial paradise.
Under this belief, and confidence in the motive of the said instigator, I sign my name thereto; now however, discovering the trickery and bad faith of the same, and in your issue of May 6th you say, that you will cheerfully give opportunity to any party who wish to erase their names, therefrom, I hereby wish my name to be so erased.
I can not pass this circumstance however, without expressing my condemnation of the conduct of said instigator, and my profound astonishment that a man should ever loose self respect to such an extent as to subject not only himself, but also his defended believers, to the unenviable political name of "Dirt Eater." V. D'Assonville.
Lumber.—The schooner Sparrow, has just landed two hundred and thirty one thousand feet of Oregon pine, for Dicken Huntington, & Co., at Anaheim Landing.
