ANAHEIM GAZETTE.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1870.
Those of our subscribers who live outside of the route of the carriage can always get their papers at the Post-Office, on the day of publication.
Anaheim.
The past week in our city has been one of activity and progress. Life, enterprise and prosperity are apparent on every hand. And yet this is only a repetition of the previous week and a small beginning of what awaits us in the future.
It is believed that no place on the Pacific Coast at the present time has such good prospects, so many latent advantages of location, or is enjoying so fine a condition of prosperity, as Anaheim. Money is plenty, trade is good, and every citizen is getting rich. What other city in all California can say as much? Not one in the North; and not another in the South. The only city of prosperity, the only place that now "pans out rich" is beautiful, evergreen Anaheim. Beneath the sun there is no place so rare, so lovely, so tranquil. The aroma of her flowers ascend to Heaven; her picturesque landscape is a perpetual delight to the vision, and her wine—her wine—well, datish goot, by tam.

Good Effect.
Our Shoo-Fly editorial of last week was a "clincher." We are now permitted to transact our own business in our own way. We congratulate yourself.
ORDINANCE No. 8.—We print to day City Ordinance No. 8, regulating the Butchering business within the corporation.
Hash Exports. — By reference to Freight List it will be seen that San Diego has drawn on Anaheim for beans, corn and onions. If they will boil them together, with a little sprinkling of their "harbor," they will not——perish——the thought.
Extending the City. — There is some talk going the rounds, about extending the limits of the City out to the western boundaries of sections 9 and 16. If this should take place, it would embrace much valuable property and many residences.
In Need of A School. — We are informed by W. J. Smith, Esq., that in his vicinity (which is also that of W. R. Olden, Esq.) three miles north of Anaheim, there are about forty school children, unprovided with a school. This being the case, a public school should be provided for that section at an early date.
New Post Master.—W. M. Higgins, Esq., has received, from the Post Master General at Washington, his commission as Post Master at Anaheim. The appointments of the post office belonging to the Government are to be soon transferred to him. Our citizens can rely upon it that every duty of the office will be punctually and efficiently attended to by the new incumbent. We congratulate brother Higgins upon his promotion. Obed Macy, Esq., has been sworn in as Deputy.
as Post Master at Anaheim. The appurtenances of the post office belonging to the Government are to be soon transferred to him. Our citizens can rely upon it that every duty of the office will be punctually and efficiently attended to by the new incumbent. We congratulate brother Higgins upon his promotion. Obed Macy, Esq., has been sworn in as Deputy.
SAN BERNARDINO STAGE.—The San Bernardino and Wilmington stage has, for some reason, hauled off. We understand, however, that a new line is to take its place immediately.
A TEMPEST has raged in Anaheim for a whole week—but it was in a teapot!
J. W. Gillette, Deputy County Clerk has our thanks for an important private document.
OUR POPULATION. Mr. Kuelp and other well informed citizens estimate the population of Anaheim to be 1,000.
CAPISTRANO.—An important communication on school matters at Capistrano, came to hand last night, too late for publication. It will appear in our next.
The Anaheim Gazette is the name of a new paper just established at Anaheim, Cal., the first number of which has reached us. It is edited and published by Geo. W. Barter. If we mistake not, this is the same Geo. W. Barter who took his first lessons in printing in this village some seventeen years ago. His wanderings have been far since then, and we are glad to see him turn up at last the editor of so spirited and promising a paper as the Gazette—Fulton (N.Y.) Times.

Those who live here or in this vicinity and who look forward to the development of the country as a means of their personal prosperity, should leave every dollar of their money here at Anaheim.
