The vgudeville road show which sklejohn and Dunn are bringing to California Theater tomorrow is by a holiday one. Every act which bears on this program is a pleasing and every one who sees this show will remember it for some time to come.

CONCORD, N. H., Dec. 21.—Parents are largely to blame for short skirts and rolled down stockings, according to Fred A. Rogers, master of the State Grange, in delivering his annual address to the New Hampshire Grangers, in session here.
"Are not parents largely to blame for allowing their daughters to dress in immodest fashion?" he asked in the course of his address. "An application of oil of birch bark prove efficient in the wearing of longer skirts and the rolling down of stockings," he declared.
Cigaret smoking and gambling at agricultural fairs were some of the things assailed by State Master Rogers in his address.
The Grange should begin at once, he said, to help throw public sentiment against "the next great curse, cigaret smoking" that faces the American public. Signboards in New Hampshire should advertise the beauties of the state, not "paper-covered coffin spikes," the speaker declared.
HARRY HEILMANN TOPS AMERICAN LEAGUE IN BATTING
CHICAGO, Dec. 31.—Harry Heilmann, Detroit outfielder, topped the American League in batting for 1921, according to official records announced today. He had an average of .394 in 149 games.
Just five points separated the Tiger slugger and Manager Ty Cobb, who finished second with an average of .389.
Babe Ruth, aided by his 59 home runs, batted .378 for the season, while Sisler of St. Louis was fourth with a mark of .371. An average of .362
Failing To Find Work Man Attempts Suicide
OS ANGELES, Dec. 21.—Explain ing afterward that he was discouraged at the non-success of his efforts to obtain work here in his line of business, J. M. Graham, 51, and who said he had no permanent residence address, attempted suicide yesterday afternoon by swallowing a poison in the basement of one of the State buildings at Exposition Park. He was found in a dying condition by a watchman, who informed the police of University station. The man was taken to the Receiving hospital, where a stomach pump placed him beyond danger. He is said to have come to Los Angeles a year ago from New York City, where he has two sons.

Miss Emma Cartet, cashier of the Southern California Edison Company, has been transferred to Los Angeles, according to announcement made today by officials of that corporation. The same announcement relates with it the news that Miss Mary Bolce, formerly cashier in the Yale Sunday from Berkeley, spend the holidays with her parents and sister.

Dr. P. A. Sparks and Mrs. Sparks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Bank Sued For $75,000
Losses In Berry Case
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21.—Action was commenced yesterday in the United States District Court against a local bank and Otis R. Berry, at one time manager of the Hollywood branch of that bank.
Five plaintiffs are seeking to recover $75,000 from the bank, which amount they allege was lost through so-called bunko operations of Berry. The following are the amounts sought.
Joseph Basler Tmarillo, Texas, $24,000; J. W. Tabor, Wallace, Idaho, $7,000; William Schneider, Yakima, Washington, $8,200; William Halligan, Denver, $20,000; John T. Herr, Lancaster, Pa., 60 shores of Pennsylvania railroad stock and $2700 cash.
Berry was convicted by a jury before Superior Judge Willis of obtaining money by false pretense. He is now at liberty on heavy bail pending his appeal.
Bandits Get $26,000
Loot From Two Banks
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Dec. 21.—Two men entered the Liberty State Bank late yesterday and covering several officers and employees, robbed the vaults of $11,000. The bank was robbed of $37,000 two years ago.
CENTRALIA, Ill., Dec. 21.—Four unmasked men each carrying two revolvers, robbed the State Bank of Iuka, northeast of here, late yesterday of $15,000.

Senate Adopts Bill For Relief in Russia
WASHINGTON, Dec. 21.—The senate late yesterday afternoon passed the house bill setting aside $20,000.000 for Russian relief. The money is to be used to send corn and wheat to the starving peasants of the Volga valley. The bill as passed by the senate carries riders appropriating $100.000 for the aid of unemployed in the United States and $500,000 for the relief of disabled veterans of the World War.
Lone Bandit Holds Up Train Coach In Chicago
CHICAGO, Dec. 21.—A lone bandit held up the passengers in the observation car of Baltimore and Ohio train No. 6 shortly after it left Chicago last night. A small amount of money and some jewels were taken. The bandit jumped from the train when it slowed down at Sixty-seventh street.
