Calif Solomon, held on similar charges, was released yesterday. Balance of Missing Gold Found on Liner Sonoma SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 2.—An unremitting search of a week was rewarded yesterday when detectives found $20,000 in gold, still missing from the robbery of the specie tanks of the liner Sonoma. More than $100,000 was found a few days ago, and yesterday the balance was located under the scuppers on a lower boat deck. Following the announcement that the price of bread would be doubled, mobs attacked bakeries and grocery stores, wrecking and looting them. Automobiles were overturned in the streets and the passengers assaulted. The big hotels were stoned and windows broken. S. Q. R. STORE MAKING PREPARATIONS FOR HOLIDAY TRADE "Our Christmas goods have reached Anaheim," Q. H. Renner of the S. Q. R store announced today. "Our force of salespeople is busy making room for the holiday trade and waiting on customers." When a representative of the Herald called at this popular store he found the store crowded with shoppers which gave the place something of a holiday air and yet the holiday season has hardly begun. More room is the constant and pressing demand of this store which appears always crowded for space for the large stock of merchandise. This need is being met in a measure by removing the office from the first floor to the balcony. This change will give the office an elevated position, overlooking the large salesroom, and will greatly facilitate the handling of their large and increasing trade. The shelving on one side of the store is being extended to the ceiling, which will almost double the capacity. The S. Q. R. store is a popular priced store which meets the needs of the average woman or man for a good safe place to trade; where they can procure dependable merchandise at satisfactory prices.
