Second Floor Weber's Book & Music Store SOCIETY CARRIE LOU EVANS, Editor Telephone 540 THEATER PARTY IN LOS ANGELES A theater party was enjoyed at the Mason opera house in Los Angeles last night when a coterie of teachers chaperoned by Mrs R. L. Coons, attended the performance of "Hamlet" with Robert Mantell in the leading role. After the theater a midnight supper was enjoyed. Those in the party were Miss Bremer, Miss Case, Miss Decker, Miss Elizabeth Renshaw, Miss Ruth Coons and Mrs. R. L. Coons. MR. AND MRS. MAAS ENTERTAIN WITH CARDS Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Maas were hosts to an evening party last night. Pinocchie was the amusement with Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Prince receiving the prizes. After the games Mrs. Maas served a dainty two course luncheon. CHAT EN SEAU MEETS AT ELLIOTT HOME The Chat En Seau Club was delightfully entertained at the home of Miss Violet Elliott on East Center street, last night. During the evening, Mrs. Welcome Ward was honored with gifts from her friends. The remainder of the evening was spent at fancy work. Refreshments were served at a late hour to Misses Hazel Withee, Vera O'Rourke, Lillian and Evelyn Degryse, Florence Hammill, Mrs. Glady's Prescott, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Mrs. Lilea Campbell, Mrs. Ruth Ward, Mrs. Harriet Boyd. FOUR-FOUR CLUB AT ZEPPENFELD HOME The Four-Four Club was delightfully entertained last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zeppenfeld, east of Anaheim. Cards were played during the evening with Mr. and Mrs. A. B. McCord making high scores. Preceding the games a dinner was served, with covers laid for Mr. and to attend these matches and enjoy the game as "onlookers." Thursday is "Woman's Sweepstake Day." On this day tea will be served with an initial charge of ten cents. The profits received from these charges will be used to keep the clubhouse. Other golf enthusiasts are welcome to the course. Chairs and tables will be provided for visitors. FEDERATION PRESIDENT GUEST AT SANTA ANA Mrs. W. A. Moore of Fullerton, president of Orange County Federation of Women's Clubs, was one of the honored guests at the Tuesday afternoon reception of the Santa Ana Woman's club, when Dr. Evalene Pee entertained. She was the guest of Mrs. Wells during her visit in Santa Ana, president of the Woman's club. At the meeting in the afternoon, Mrs. Moore, one of the principal speakers, held the attention of all present when she talked on "Echoes of the District Convention," and gave some very interesting facts relative to the recent gathering of prominent club women from all over the five southern counties of the state. MRS. MARY MOTT HONORED GUEST The home of Mrs. Martha Crane on Tuesday afternoon was the scene of a merry surprise party for Mrs. Mary Mott of Anaheim, formerly a Garden Grove resident, who is visiting at the Crane home this week. The occasion was Mrs. Mott's seventy-second birthday. Twenty-one of her old neighbors and friends completely surprised her. She was presented with many beautiful gifts and after the social hour, refreshments of cocoa, sandwiches and cake were enjoyed. Those present were Mrs. S. S. Jackson, Mrs. George Head, Mrs. Frank Anderson, Mrs. Edward Arrowsmith, Mrs. E. A. Beardsley, Mrs. G. L. Beardsley, Mrs. Ray Beardsley, Mrs. Lott, Mrs. George Rolfe, Mrs. Roy Geren, Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. K. S.Hendricks, Mrs.Toule Oertly, Mrs.Conrad Oertly, Mrs.Any Graves, Mrs.Bertha Allen, Mrs.Reed, Mrs.Anson Mott, the honored guest, Mrs.Mary Molt and the hostess, Mrs.G.F.Crane. MRS. BERT ANNIN ENTERTAINS LODGE The Past Noble Grands of the Fullerton Rebekah lodge spent the day Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Bert Annin for the purpose of organizing a Past Noble Grand association. A pot luck dinner was furnished by those present. Mrs.Lacy, past president of the Rebekah assembly of California and installing staff of Santa Ana for the Past Noble Grands association, were guests at dinner. Following dinner the meeting was called to order by Mrs.Margaret Ustick, temporary chairman, Mrs.Lucy then explained the purpose of such an organization. Officers were elected and the following took the chairs: Ida B.Compton, president. Ellen Woodward, vice president. Margaret Ustick, secretary. Clara Leidtke, treasurer. A very impressive initiation by the Santa Ana degree staff then took place. Following the initiation, committees were appointed by the president and future work discussed. Mrs.Bertha Harron invited the association to hold the next meeting at her home, December 28, at 2 o'clock. At this time initiatory work by the Fullerton association will be conferred on Fullerton Past Noble Grands not present at the meeting. Frost has damaged almonds in the Chico and Marysville sections. ELECTION OF OFFICERS TUESDAY NIGHT The Liberty Court of the Amaranth will hold its regular meeting next Tuesday night in the Masonic Temple. The annual election of officers will take place at this time. AL-FUN CLUB AT SELINGER HOME Mrs. Joe Sclinger was hostess to the Al-Fun Club yesterday afternoon. Cards were enjoyed during the afternoon. Refreshments were served at a late hour to the guests. HACIENDA CLUB SWEEPSTAKE DAYS The Hacienda Country Club invites the business men to luncheon Saturday from 12 to 2 o'clock, with charge of fifty cents to be made.
