CONGRESSMAN WANTS TO FIND TWO BOYS FOR ACADEMY
Congressman Phil D. Swing is looking for two boys who are "made of right sort of stuff and ambitious for a free education." These two young men, when found, will be nominated by Representative Swing for admission to the United States Military Academy. He has arranged with the Civil Service Commission to conduct examinations at different cities in the district and to certify him to two higher applicants.
Announcement of Mr. Swing's plans is given in a letter received by The letter today. The letter follows:
"Under existing law, I will have no vacancies in the United States Naval Academy to be filled in June next year and I am required to nominate two candidates for admission to the academy before March 4, 1922. Applicants for appointment must be citizens of the United States not less than sixteen nor more than twenty years of age on April 1, next. They must be physically sound, of good moral character and of industrious habits."
While I am authorized to appoint one I choose, I feel, first, that the government which is offering a college education free is entitled to get the best for its money, and, secondly, believe that the boy who is made of the right sort of stuff and is amorous for this kind of an education entitled to nave his chance, even though he has no political pull or special influence. I have, therefore, requested the Civil Service Commission to conduct a competitive examination and to certify me the two highest applicants. The following is the announcement:
"The commission has the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of November 5, requesting that arrangements be made to hold an examination for you on Saturday, December 31, 1921, to enable you to make selection for designation for appointment to the LICENSES TO WED

Two Scotchmen, who, though the best of friends, held different political opinions, were discussing the merits of their local M.P.
The first one said:
"Weel. he sent us some fine birds last year!"
"Man," replied the other, who was no friend of the sitting member, "that was bribery!"
"But." continueud the first speaker,
"We couldn't eat them—the pair we had were sae high we just threw them awa'"
"Worse still," said his friend, "that was bribery and corruption!"
