DIRECTED BY TOD BROWNING
HERE is marvelously pictured the drama of a woman's battle with the world. Caught in a whirlpool of desperate experiences, she is finally swamped by the cross-currents of love and swept to the crest of happiness. It's a great picture—don't miss it!

OLDSMOBILE CAR SETS CREDITABLE SPEED RECORD
Humming a perfect tune—the kind of a motor song that means mechanical harmony—a stock Oldsmobile Twin Four from the J. W. Leavitt and Company of San Francisco established a creditable bit of automobile speed history last Suncay over the boards of the Cotati speedway.
One thousand consecutive miles in 899 minutes.
this means an average of 66.66 2-3 miles per hour.
The beauty of the whole test was the manner in which the car responded to the tremendous strain put upon it by the drivers. At no time in the whole run was it necessary to adjust a part or to remove the hood, the motor running smoothly and rhythmically without halt or complaint.
It was necessary, of course, to change drivers in the course of the test, and because of this factor the pilots were obliged to maintain a running speed of practically 71 miles an hour.
In the early stages or the race against time a tackle fog settled down over the speedway shrouding the trackboard...

work of its drivers.
In commenting upon last Sunday's
run, A. D. Plughoff, general manager
of the J. W. Leavitt and Company,
said:
"Sunday's run on the speedway at Cotati proved conclusively all that has been claimed for the power, speed
and endurance of the Oldsmobile Twin Four. The fact that me car experienced no trouble whatever in making
did cooling system and clever designing of gas passages, responds willingly to the demands of sustained speed
with wide open throttle. The laurels
gained in last Sunday's test only prove
all the claims that have been made
for the car by manufacturer, distributor and dealer.
