OIL WELL MAY MAKE LONG BEACH FIRST TAXLESS CITY
The enterprising cities of Southern California have astonished the outside world with some remarkable exploits in city development, but none of them quite equals the latest effort of the municipality of Long Beach to make that beautiful city a "TAXLESS CITY!"
This is cheerful news to the tax burdened citizens of the whole world who are stooped and staggering under the tremendous load of every kind of tax possible of governmental invention.
How are they going to do it?
That's easy after you know!
The municipal government of Long Beach, recognizing the possibility of immense profits to be derived from the oil operations on Signal Hill, formed a partnership with the Ramsey oil drilling interests of Texas for the purpose of drilling a well to be known as the Municipal-Ramsey well.
The city furnishes the land and the Ramsey company pays all the expenses of drilling and bringing in oil production. The city of Long Beach will receive 60 percent and the Ramsey company 40 percent of the profits made in the sale of oil.
Work on the municipal well is progressing rapidly and since it is located in a proven field the success of the enterprise is assured.
Eminent geologists have put the seal of approval on the Signal Hill field and are ganguine that the volume of possible production justifies the municipality of Long Beach to expect that its share of the profits from this initial operation as well as others that may follow will be sufficient to pay all the running expenses of the municipal government. So, you see, Long Beach may be the first "TAXLESS CITY" in the United States.

ATTORNEY TO ADDRESS CHIROPRACTORS AT FULLERTON
A meeting will be held in Fullerton hall when Griffith Jones, well known attorney of Los Angeles, will deliver an address, the subject being "The Medical Kaisers." This meeting is being held under the auspices of the Orange County Chiropractors' association, and it is stated that an orchestra which has recently toured the east will be present to furnish the music.
Griffith Jones is well known throughout the state of California as a prominent platform speaker and in the larger cities as many as three thousand have been turned away at meetings, unable to secure seats.
Mr. Jones, besides being attorney for the National Association of Chiropractors, is a firm believer in what he terms "this wonderful science," for the reason that, after the medical man were unable to do anything for him, he secured permanent relief from a very serious ailment. Mr. Jones has recently defended Dr. Foy of Anaheim upon three occasions, resulting in a disagreement of the jury each time. He also defended in the Santa Ana courts Dr. Vanneta Henderson, who was acquitted upon one occasion, and Dr. Dudley of Orange county, in which the jury disagreed, and he defended Dr. Sue Amack at her first trial, when the jury disagreed. Dr. Sue Amack was later represented by another attorney and convicted.
The meeting at Fullerton will commence at 7:30.
On November 7, a meeting will be held in the Temple theater at Santa Ana, the same speaker being present, and a date will be announced within a few days for a meeting at Anaheim.
