NEW YORK (UPI) — Stock market action continued irregular early today with strength noted in a good sized list of individual specialties.
Electronics continued in demand with gains in the group running past 9 points in Motorola which opened at 114. Zenith rose 3¼, General Time, Radio Corp. and Magnavox around 2 points.
General Dynamics responded to news of a $33,500,000 rocket contract award with a gain of more than a point. North American Aviation gained over 1 and Martin Co. was up close to 2, with the latter reflecting several large contract awards.
Bristol Myers rose 3 points in the drugs, Thiokol nearly 3 in the chemicals. Bell & Howell ran up another 5 points and there were good gains in General Electric, General Tire, Maytag, General Foods, Philadelphia, Reading, Wagner Electric, Corning Glass, Admiral Corp.
Leading steels were firm. Motors improved fractionally with Ford up nearly a point. Rails were easier on balance.
Corporation Officers For Anaheim Gazette Named
A new corporation to handle the publishing of the Anaheim Gazette has been formed today with Bert J. Abraham as president.
Abraham will own the controlling interest in the new corporation Mrs. Henry Kuchel will be vice president and her son, Ted, will be secretary-treasurer. Senator Thomas Kuchel, another son, will be on the Board of Directors of the new corporation.
Kuchel family will retain the remaining interest in the paper.
Jail Building Approval Explained by County
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — County supervisors let it be known that they have "approved", as well as "accepted" preliminary plans for a downtown Santa Ana county jail building and sheriff's offices.
During the Tuesday supervisorial meeting, the clerk to the board pointed out that her records showed the board had voted last week to "accept" the preliminary plans. However, she noted that a resolution prepared by the county's county counsel's office indicated that the board had "approved" the plans.
Assistant County Counsel George Holden explained that "accept" and "approve" mean the same thing — as far as supervisorial action is concerned.
Board members agreed that they had "approved the plans, as well as "accept" them.
Bids for Big Highway Job by Fullerton Called
State Division of Highways has called for bids on a large-scale highway project on Whittier Boulevard-Fullerton Road in Orange County.
The project involves grading and paving to widen 6.5 miles of Whittier Blvd., and Fullerton Road (State Highway No. 2) to a four-lane divided highway between Valley Home Ave., at the Los Angeles County line in La Habra, and Brea Blvd., in Fullerton.
A total of $1,700,000 is available for the project.
Bids will be open June 4 in Los Angeles.
Plans also call for widening of the Fullerton overhead over the Union Pacific Railroad, and installation or modification of traffic signals at several intersections.
Find Negro Men Victim Execu By Gunshots

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (U) A young Negro rape suspect naped from his unguarded cell was "executed" by two shots, a coroner's jury Tuesday.
The Negro, Mack Charles ker, 23, was abducted from Pearl River County Court jail a week ago last Saturday body was found floating in Pearl River 20 miles west here Monday morning.
During the inquest, the 4 FBI investigation team and sissipil state highway patrol intensified their hunt for the mob that seized Parker.

Burglary of Anaheim Concrete Firm Told
The Anaheim Concrete Construction Company office at 708 E. Sycamore, was reported the victim of a burglary at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, by Nancy J. Cornellius, an employee of the company.
The crime, which accounted for the loss of a typewriter valued at $76 and nothing more, occurred sometime between the 5 p.m. closing time Monday, and the discovery at 9 a.m., the following morning.
The building was apparently entered through the rear door, which has a defective lock. No signs of forcible entry could be discovered. Scratch marks on the rear door's lock hasp were accounted for by the fact that employees often had to employ a screwdriver to open the defective lock.
Local Robbery 'Solved' By Arrest of Suspect
The March 12 holdup of the Five Points Liquor Store has been solved with the apprehension of Bernard Jerry Langan, 23, of Southgate, by Lynwood police, Anaheim officers said today.
Four robbery complaints have been filed against Langan by Lynwood police and he has admitted to them the commission of several more robberies in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. His admission of the Five Points holdup closed the Anaheim police department's book on the crime.
Langan was picked up for questioning May 4, and it was at that time that he made his confessions.

Harbor Blvd. Crash Causes Minor Injuries
A head-on collision occurred on Harbor Blvd., near Ball Rd., at 12:49 a.m. this morning when a car driven by Miss Linda J. Hansen, 17, 5535 Vonnie, Cypress, left the proper lane and was struck by a car driven by 51-year-old Vivian G. Henry of 885 S. Lemont St.
Apparently minor injuries were sustained by Miss Hansen, who received a cut on the left knee. Her passenger, James Rymer, 607 W. Broadway, did not know if he was injured or not. Both parties were taken to Orange County Hospital to be examined.
Beer Deliveries Upped
SACRAMENTO (UPI) — The State Board of Equalization says that beer deliveries of 12,576,000 gallons represented the greatest February total on record in California. They exceeded the February 1958 total by 2.2 per cent.

OPLARVILLE, Miss. (UPI)—Young Negro rape suspect kidnapped from his unguarded jail was "executed" by two gunmen, a coroner's jury ruled today.
The Negro, Mack Charles Parr, 23, was abducted from the Earl River County Courthouse a week ago last Saturday. His body was found floating in the Earl River 20 miles west of Monday morning.
During the inquest, the 40-man investigation team and Mississippi state highway patrolmen inspected their hunt for the lynchman that seized Parker.
He was beaten in his cell before nine or 10 hooded and gloved men carried him feet first on three flights of stairs to a parking car. Moments later, a voyager of four or five cars carried him away from this south Mississippi town.
Marker was buried at his home on Lumberton, Miss., Tuesday. His mother was believed en route to California to visit a sister. She left Monday before learn-of the discovery of her son's body.
Earl River County Dist. Atty. Ninot Broom filed murder charges immediately after the boy's decision. The charges, filed against persons unknown, are in addition to kidnap charges filed in case by the state of Mississippi.
Big Scout Camporee Held at Marine Base
The largest Camporee ever held in the Northern Orange County Council was held at Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base over last week end, announced Walt Riesterer, Camping Chairman of the Northern Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America.
More than 1300 boys and leaders representing the three districts of the Council camped in the Deluze Area of the Marine Corp Base. All participants packed in more than two miles, carrying food and equipment. Activities for the two day camp consisted of a giant campfire with an Order of the Arrow Indian dance honoring Scouts who have made outstanding camping records. Present at the Campfire was Claude Owens, Judge of the Anaheim-Fullerton Municipal Court and President of the Northern Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America.
On Sunday the Camporee was concluded with a review of the Scouts by officials of the Marine Corp Base. Scouts received commemorative patches of the event.
Contempt Warrant Set For Narcotic Suspect
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — A contempt of court warrant has been issued for a 27-year-old woman who failed to appear in Superior Court for her trial.
Sought by authorities is Betty Gillespie, who was arrested in Santa Ana with Dennis Domain, 22, earlier this year, and charged with narcotic possession.

Couple Held In Killing Of Her Two Small Sons
SAN DIEGO (UPI)—"I held my left hand under his chin, against his throat, and pushed down with my right hand on top of his head. I held him this way for about two or three minutes."
A handyman was thus quoted by sheriff's deputies in describing how, with the alleged agreement of his common-law wife, he killed her two small sons because "they were a bother."
Archie Merriam, 37, after his arrest Tuesday, obligingly put his left hand against his throat and his right hand behind his head to re-enact for news photographers how he strangled the boys Saturday night while their mother, Mrs. Wanda Brogdon, admittedly sat nearby in an auto.
Merriam and Mrs. Brogdon were booked on suspicion of murder.
Sheriff's Detective Lt. Tom Isbell said today that the slightly built Merriam and Mrs. Brogdon came here two weeks ago from Rockford, Ill., after Mrs. Brogdon decided to leave her husband.
The couple took with them Mrs. Brogdon's three children, Virgil, 5; David, 3; and Cynthia Ann, 19 months. The daughter was spared because she was "no trouble."
"The boys were troublemakers," Merriam said. "They tore up my cigars and once they let off the brake on my car and it smashed into another car, and there were other things."
Isbell said they considered for a while sending the children back to Mrs. Brogdon's husband in Rockford.

COST ANGELES (UPI)—The morning nationwide weather summary as prepared by the U.S. Weather Bureau:
Sunny, warm weather gained ground over the East and West today but warm and cold air met along a front extending from Wisconsin to Texas and outlined a zone of precipitation.
Rain was distributed from Nebraska and South Dakota across Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri. Thunderstorms were forecast to extend over the area during the day from the western Great Lakes to the Gulf coast.
Cool, dry air crowded into the plains and brought a clearing trend and temperatures up to 90 degrees were expected in the Ohio Valley.
Fair skies were on the fare for the Pacific states but a few showers remained over the Rockies and snow flurries were reported in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
Patchy fog and low clouds along the coast blurred the weather picture in Southern California but otherwise the southwest had warming weather.
Didja ever wonder what some of the favorite sports are in countries outside of the U.S.? Take frinstance Australia. Surfing and swimming are the favorite participation sports, while hoss racing is the popular spectator endeavor. In Belgium, soccer is the most popular. Canada, both participation and spectator, it's hockey. In Mexico its bullfighting.
Back home baseball is still considered the national pastime, while basketball, horse racing, football and baseball are all top box office attractions.
Where does bowling fit into the picture? Presently I would estimate it to be the greatest participation sport of all time. It has proven to be the game with no age barrier. It has all the ingredients for individual and team endeavor, the handicap systems used make it a great competitive sport, and it is the ONLY sport that any-one can become a stewardite being the abode who, as hard as they could never make in baseball, football, yet they have gone on bowlers of high standing only practice and diving.

HOLLYWOOD (UPI) — The Little People of America, an international organization of midgets, appealed to the Pentagon Tuesday night to allow midgets to aid the U.S. satellite program by riding in the rockets.
$1 Polio Shot Clinic Scheduled in Anaheim
Another in a series of Anaheim Junior Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Polio Clinics will be held May 16 in the Broadway-Hale Shopping Center Mall, it was announced by Project Chairman Joel Klein today.
Klein reports the program is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will be conducted for four hours.
Shots will be afforded the public at $1 a piece with all local residents urged to take advantage of the offer.
Location of the clinic is opposite Clifton's Cafeteria in the Mall.
Mother of SA Chief Dies in Basler Home
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — Mrs. John Garthe, mother of Santa Ana Fire Chief John Garthe, died in the Basler Rest Home on North Broadway here Tuesday morning.
The 82-year-old woman reportedly strangled on a prune seed. Deputy Coroner James Pond said Mrs. Garthe died of asphyxiation. She had been a patient at the rest home for approximately six months.
Mrs. Garthe's body was taken to Brown Colonial Mortuary, Santa Ana where last rites are pending.

School Board Candidate Introduced to Neighbors
A neighborhood gathering of more than 100 residents of the Home Fair area of Anaheim was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stable, 1560 Brande St., last night.
The Stables hosted the get-together in order to introduce Rodney (Bud) Coulson to their friends and neighbors who live on Edithia St., Gilmar Drive, Wilde Place, Gilbuck Drive, Crone St., Sonya Place, Loara St. as well as Brande St.
Coulson is a candidate for the Anaheim Union High School Board of Trustees in the election to be held May 19.
County Civil Engineers' Meeting in Justin Due
American Society of Civil Engineers, County Branch will meet on Thursday at the Revere House in Justin.
The speaker will be Orange County Raod Commissioner Al Koch. The subject will be "Recent Development of Highways in Orange County." Koch will outline the work done by his department and particular attention will be focused on the unusual problems that are encountered in highway construction in Orange County.
Fellowship hour is at 6:30 p.m. and Dinner at 7 p.m. Reservations may be arranged with Joe Truxaw, secretary-treasurer, at the Orange County Road Department.
